I actually bought the car - the Galaxie-for the motor. It has a dyna rewind ?

What WAS on my bench .... ?
Bought off eBay on December 5th for approx. £10.50 posted was this Ninco 'Atag' Renault Megane. Described as a 'Project' it looked a bit ropey with the broken spoiler, 'dirty?' screen and a liberal coat of racing detritus BUT it still had both mirrors and is one of my favourite body styes. Although I didn't have this particular paint scheme I did have a duplicate #18 Ninco 'Lightning' chassised donor car so .....
The glass was carefully removed and the graphics masked off. The 'dirt' appeared to be paint covering bad scratching but both polished out with Autoglym Super Resin Polish, finished off with 'The Treatment' Model Wax. Brilliant stuff but I'm almost out of it, so does anyone know if it was just regular Carnaubu wax?
The body itself was given a good clean in hottish water and washing up liquid to degrease it and get rid of the tyre rubber, then it to was carefully given a LIGHT polish with 'The Treatment' wax. (It does clean as well as polish so is slightly abrasive.) The spoiler and body had the remains of the broken legs removed before gluing the glass back in place. The two were married up again using a section of slot car tyre. Superglue was used at the spoiler end and to avoid 'hazing' GS Hypo cement was used at the 'glass' end. The body was completed with the interior and chassis from the duplicate car.
It's not perfect but does fill a 'slot'
in the pit box with a racer I'll not worry about running hard.

This hardly qualifies as it turned out to be just a body swap - but it was done on the bench too 
A Facebook Marketplace find, I wasn't bothered about the Parma controller but was interested in the 1/24th scale BRM Porsche 959. The seller wouldn't separate them but for £35 post paid it was still a bit of a steal!

My mistake.
After removing the RC style vac-formed spoiler the red tape behind it had been used to cover a multitude of attempts to repair and/or install other spoilers. As well as that, the arches had been cut to allow the wheels to protrude way beyond the body. I was able to even up and round off the arches then Dremel 5/8" off the axle to get the wheels back inside the body, which helped with the looks. Even more so after I'd cleaned off all the raceworn factory transfers and shaved back the repair attempts to the correct contours.
However, by the time I'd tried to source replacement wing mirrors (unobtainable) and decals, costed up model filler, paint to blend in the repair, time and materials for a home made spoiler and the requisite postage it just wasn't cost effective.
Casting around for a solution I was amazed to find Pendles still had one or two factory finished replacement bodies and I was lucky enough to grab the last Coke body, with wing mirrors! for less than £20. Even less with the club discount.
Bit of a cheat really as it was just a case of undoing three screws and swapping the new body in but I'm well pleased. An 'as new' 1/24 BRM/TTS Porsche for? - a heck of a lot less than eBay prices!

From the same seller as the BRM Porsche I posted earlier. Recognise the replacement spoiler style on the Carrera De Tomaso? These three were £57 posted and came with two extra guides - the black bits in the photo..
First under the knife was the De Tomaso. Apart from the spoiler and missing mirrors there wasn't a lot wrong with it. (Really?) Yes, well .... fortunately the RC style spoiler was fitted to the broken stubs of the original so no damage removing it. However, it's going to take a lot of work to clean out the original channels in order to fit a 'proper' replacement. Luckily I have good photos of an unmolested original to work from and it's a fairly simple shape to approximate. It'll be done in either a sheet alloy or carbon fibre finish though, rather than trying to replicate the original colours. So far it's responding really well to the 'make it mine' routine and cleaning up beautifully. Weird tyres though!
More work was required on the Pink Kar GTO. You might be able to see in the opening photo the oversized rear tyres and wider track. Less noticable is the fogged glass - ALL of it. At first I thought it was liquid styrene but luckily not. Maybe hazing from superglue? No - too uniform and on the outside. In the end I figured it to be some sort of clear spray that had 'gone off'. Fortunately the glass was easy to pop out. It took a LOT of tedious fingernail scraping mm. by mm. to get it all off, then multiple polishing sessions with Autoglym and then Carnauba wax to get it crystal clear again but it was worth it, so much so that I've treated it to a set of Pendles wire wheels, classic tyres and Slot.it axles and crown wheel. The back was lowered 1/8" so it sat right too. Just got to add the two eared spinners at some point - and I might add white roundels with black numbers over the yellow. It may be a 1:1 livery but it just doesn't look right to me.
Nearly finished. Just got to figure out a replacement clear airscoop for the bonnet. Maybe doing both the same?
Finally there's the MG Vanquish Lola T260. This was what I was REALLY after and it looked mint. Unfortunately it either travelled badly or the seller was a bit coy and clever over the rear spoiler, which was sadly broken. A simple fix, I think - but not one I'd banked on. I'm saving that for later. In the meantime the spoiler was Blu-Tacked in place for the photo, the Blu-Tack then being rather amateurishly photoshopped out. Hopefully I'll do a better job with the real fix.
All these have been shown in the 'What's on your bench' thread rather than in the 'Cars bought in 2021' as I was too late for that - and I can't with all honesty say they were bought in 2022. THOSE will come another day

Well. For the first time in a long time. Nothing is on my bench. 
The workbench just went back together after renovating the basement floor. That usually provides a good opportunity to clean up and re-organize. Like moving out and back in again. The junk doesn't go back.

Not strictly on my bench ... but a recent addition to my tools:
A compressor with regulator and 2 airbrushes.
All budget stuff, but plenty good enough for me to see how I get on.
