I was one of the 3 guys that bought it out from Alban and Barry and shifted it to Jersey----- Jeremy--accounts, John, sales, and I was the hands on guy in charge of tooling etc-----
I left when production shifted to China and John became the point of contact for everyone----- my last input was the chassis for the 275p and Chap, I also did the ill fated protec chassis and design (it is how I came to be on here---researching mrrc stuff and i chanced on the protec comments)--- the Hornby connection was an opportunity missed due to a few factors--- protec was supposed to be the start of a range revamp with MRRC as retained advisors---- they approached us to help with actually making their slot cars run properly-- I remember they sent us some cars, (audi was one) and I reworked them slightly like you would for a club meeting and sent them back--- protec grew from that---.
It is now alll a long time ago, but I was recently back in touch with the new owner and our long time collaborator Kurt of H+T RACING--- MRRC is not dead despite the big problems at the end---- new products are coming and the later history will be corrected--- it is quite amusing reading some of the comments regarding our time of ownership of MRRC !!.
The slot world today is far different from when we took over MRRC, the market was very small back then, only later did Fly and then Ninco appear--- we had a hard time balancing sales and investment----- hence the monogram link up---- anyway, if anyone has questions and if I can remember the facts I am happy to help.
