Sooooo

I realised that I tend to get so wrapped up in Bordo vintage meet, that the cars that I build generally are only the ones needed for the current year. That just got a bee in my bonnet..

So on my workdesk now is what could be called a Plethora of Ferrari's

   

I have had this  Russkit chassis for a couple of years now. then I was able to pick up a brand new Ferrari P2 body by Russkit , body clips arrived thanks to Don, and now I need to get some paint this weekend.

   

I have always wanted this version of the Chappy - I assume it is simply the Chapparal 2 (as opposed to the 2 A by Cox and Monogram) - made by Hawk, having to recreate a screen from a water bottle and it now has a Riko chassis added.

   

This is a poor make unknown resin Chappy 2J - body is not low enough so will add the ground effect sils to get it a bit lower. Fitted with a Monogram chassis

And then a superb Ferrari 860M  - bought off ebay - and I have NO clue who the manufacturer is - great quality with etched metal grills etc.....

Nothing so exotic on my bench. Just a bunch of second hand cars bought at Gaydon, to run at a 1/32 club if/when I get the chance to visit again. The quickest seems to be the Scalextric Chaparral 2F - BUT - is the motor stock? 

Anyone able to identify it for me please - and if so the RPM spec?

I can't see any markings on it.

If not stock it is a VERY neat swap.

That is a Scalextric motor - came out a few years ago as an upgrade - will need someone more knowledgeable about RPM - my guess would be around 21k

The second user cars are the best bargains and have lots of potential.

That yellow motor must be the C8421 20K Scalextric Sport+ motor.

Scaley did a 20k, 25k and 30k S-Can usually together in a tuning set with a white kit (I had an Audi R8 like this).

Yellow - 20k, Orange - 25k and Blue - 30k.

... and here's the 'bench'. Couple of cars missing are a red Ninco Kart and a Vanquish MG Lola T260. Both are mint boxed so will be the last to be fettled. 

(Well, they were mint boxed but both were run on the 1/24th Scalextric track at gaydon, the latter only for 3 or 4 laps before I was warned about the diff' needing work to ensure longevity. Thanks Brian, you saved the day there!)

There are also three Scalextric Porsche 911GT3R's bought 'for spares', two digital, one analogue. I was going to see what I could salvage from them to 'service' others I have - but they all work!

So although the car has been upgraded the rev. range still falls in the stock class as per the club rules .

The Sport Plus long can motors are Red (20K), Lime Green (25K) and Black (30K). Avant Slot do a pink unbranded 25K long can that has that same cooling slot arrangement ...

The 'bench' is the tray so I can move the cars around to wherever I'm currently working - and to catch/hold any loose bits whilst working on a particular car.

The tartan blanket is covering a footstool used as a table in front of my tv chair. It's non-slip surface keeps the tray in place and the weave helps 'capture' any bits that do escape the work tray.

To me the best part of acquiring any 'new' cars is the tinkering and fixing up. If I get an hour or so's enjoyable fiddling per car on the work bench I think I've got my money's worth out of it.

It comes in kit form, is simple to assemble and holds a lot of essential bits and pieces. Supplier is HobbyZone. LINK They make a huge variety of stuff and their prices are very reasonable but, as they are a Polish company, postage costs whack the total up quite a bit.
