HO Drag Proxy 9-10 February 2021 RACE REPORT
#11

Four cars posted yesterday;

For the Nostalgia T jet class, there is  a new 71 Camaro (Street) which was inspired by a real Camaro described as an "under the tree behind the barn find!".            Despite the extensive surface rust that was even under the vinyl roof, the overall structure is pretty solid. Restoration to date consists of salvaged hood and trunk lids and motor upgrades. A pair of part worn rear slicks mean that it is ready to race.

For the Nostalgia 4 gear funny car class, the Plymouth Cuda has received a new chassis and motor.

For the Nostalgia Micro Scalextric match racing class, the 32 Ford hot rod sedan has received wheelie bars to see if that helps to improve speed off the line..

Finally, for the Micro Scalextric Street Stock class, the JAGS XJ220 returns pretty much as before. Time to trawl ebay in the hope of finding a fast motor....

Looking forward to next week...

Iain,

Pictures for additional inspiration please?

Noobs like myself need an education.

Thanks a million!

Sorry Ken, but I didn't take photos before sending the Camaro to Andy.  (However, page 1 of the December race report shows the other three cars).
In the meantime, imagine a rusty yellow version of your red zed!

Thank you Iain. I will check the old records. I look forward to seeing your new Camaro in the race results.  Checkeredflag

Looks like we have another big hold-up with the post locally... No parcels since Wednesday, including one posted ‘Next Day’ four days ago...

I will wait for everyone’s parcels to arrive - if you let me know they are on their way.

Jeremy & Jane’s has arrived, plus one with Pete, Sue & Jerome’s cars.

A deadline is a deadline...if that means I get a bye straight into the final, then so be it!

I love puttering with gears

My cars were posted Tuesday first class. Have the EU instigated a customs boarder around the south coast  ??‍☠️

I think they may have, mine were posted first thing Monday first class. All the tracking states is that the Royal Mail have my package. I know that as I posted it  Tappingfoot

Have to say I've found RM's tracking next to useless.

As you say, they tell you they have it and you either get no further info' at ALL - or a couple of days after it's arrived the recipient gets told it's arrived! As the poster, I've never been told a tracked item has arrived, so I don't bother using it now!

I spoke to our usual postman yesterday and he told me there are loads of parcels in the local delivery office - including for us - waiting to get on the vans. It seems the backlog is partly due to management prioritising the new 'pick-up' scheme and another spike in people off sick. He hoped they'd be delivered yesterday evening (didn't happen) or today (fingers-crossed). The van drivers are putting in very long shifts (12 hours some days) and working Sundays, but are making very little impact on the backlog.

I will get on with the pre-race stuff today - and maybe some qualifying runs... but there will be no racing until Alan, Clive and Iain's cars have arrived. All have spent plenty of time quarantining in the Royal Mail system, so they can be straight out of the boxes and onto the track.

At least snow is not a problem here...
