Hello all, just joined you all
#1

As an introduction I am 75 and just bought my first Carrera Slot set a little over a week ago. I have added to it and built a layout with 70 feet of track. (I have no clue what that is in meters) I actually assembled everything yesterday morning. out of five cars I only have one left with mirrors on it. I set my ghost car, set two other cars for the slowest speed, for when my great grand kids (twin boys) come over. I have so much work to do once I get my track set. I have two more lane changers coming in. I have 5 now so I will have 7 total. I am glad I was told of this Forum. Rofl

Welcome to SlotRacer, Daschuster67.

75 years? It just means you've been young for a very long time.  Bigsmile

Your set looks great! It should provide a lot of fun.

My advice on buying cars is: Buy one of everything and decide after trying them all out. Wrench

Hello and Welcome  Wavegreen

That is a great way to start your slot car hobby   Rofl

Great looking layout with some excellent elevation changes.  Looks fun to drive!  Really good idea to have some boards around the edge to stop errant cars from crashing straight to the floor.  Slot cars are robust little things,  but falling from a height is NOT the way to go  Ambulance
I have boards positioned on both my layouts for just this reason.

On the long downhill/uphill straight you may find your cars deslot quite often at the digital crossover as they will be going pretty quickly.
If you reposition the digital crossover nearer to a corner,  where the cars are travelling slower,  you may find your cars deslot less. They usually work better from a lower speed than full throttle on a long stretch.

As for slotracer.online,  and particularly the forum,  you will be amazed at the knowledge available.  I have found everyone incredibly helpful and extremely friendly.  So any questions just ask,  somebody will come to your rescue I am sure  Talking
