New F1 cars especially are difficult to calibrate. Even at lowest setting cars are going quite fast and unable to complete a lap at a safe speed. The Dodge Viper and Audi R8’s are fine. Can anyone help???

Hello 4wheeldrift, and welcome to the Forum.
Probably best if you state what system you are talking about.
We are about to go into Christmas Day mode in the UK so answers may be a bit slower than normal.
Festive greetings, Leo

Welcome - and Merry Christmas
As Leo said, more information please!
Assuming you’re calibrating with an ARC app (with Pro, Air or One? Scalextric app or Magic?), it can be a hardware or software issue... are these cars a problem running without the app?
The motor in the F1 cars is a little feisty - mine calibrate okay. However, with traction magnets removed - or running analogue with a digital chip fitted - may be an issue with the latest Scalextric app.
An option would be to try the original App Race Control (Legacy) app, which is still available from the AppStore and GooglePlay. You lose a little, but gain a much more gradual calibration slider.
I hope that helps.
