Actual shops that stock slot cars

Hi

Does anyone know if there are any shops in the Midlands UK that stock a decent selection of slot cars and that are worth visiting?

I maybe going to Ashford, Kent next week as well if there are any en-route from Leicester

Feel the need to actually go in a shop and see before I buy, getting a little bored of buying online

Thanks

Rob

The Scalextric website has a 'Stockists' section, which might be a good start. You choose your region of the world, but then can search by UK county: www.scalextric.com/uk-en/stockists/

The independent retailers on the list near me all stock slot car brands as well as Scalextric. It makes a real difference seeing a model close up, rather than just a picture online. I usually end up buying something...

Past and Present Toys.

864 Green Lanes, Winchmore Hill, London, N21 2RS

Telephone: 0208 364 1370

If you're coming down the M1 then around the m25 on your journey, its not too much of a detour.

Finding somewhere that stocks a good range of slot cars is more than a tad difficult. Most shops are strongly biased towards model railways (where the real demand is) stock a token amount of Scalextric and very little else. There are a few notable exceptions such as Pendle and Gaugemaster but the general picture is quite dire. I have many more slot cars in my own house than the Scalextric stockist in my local town.

Once the virus situation dies down your best bet is to visit one of the many slot car swapmeets around the country where you will find everything your heart desires and leave a dirty great hole in your wallet!

Nipped down to Past and Present toys last Thursday but got there too early (Doh!!!) and couldn't hang around until 1000 when they opened. Looks like a treasure trove of a shop, can imagine my wallet would've taken a bit of a bashing if it'd been open.

Was planning to pop in again this week but Tier 4 lockdown has put a stop to that!!

Shame as they have a 2 for £60 deal on

I doubt Brexit will sort itself anytime soon so hopefully I can get down there again after xmas

Haven't been in for ages but I'm pretty sure Janes Trains in Tooting South London is still an actual shop you can walk into and buy slot cars (and trains, obvs!).
