Worldwide shipping.....what's happening, not much?

As the topic suggests, with COVID-19 and grounding of airlines and flights, shipping around the world has been interrupted at best, or stopped at worst.

I can go to my local postal agency and post a package to most countries and earlier in May have done so but I haven't had any updates on parcels I sent being delivered.

I have made a few purchases from other countries UK, China, US, Amazon Australia and USA but nothing has been delivered to my door.

Regarding Amazon, I have busted them in their lies with Amazon stating Stock Is Available for Immediate Dispatch, yet when I enquired I was informed that the stock was in-fact on the ship still floating across the oceans somewhere and Not In Stock at all, I've made a claim against Amazon for shipping costs due to their false statements regarding availability, I've even been updated as to their being an issue on Amazon's end where the order was not processed (it has moved through processing as of July 5) though payment had been taken.

I realise the virus lockdowns and limited international flying is the main reason for this. I would be interested to know of anyone else's recent experiences.

I ordered a couple of bits from China in June. The first shipment arrived in 5 days, the second one was put on a plane on 23rd June and it is still in the air according to the tracking information!

UK domestic postage is working fine. Sold three items on eBay and they all arrived with the buyers next day despite being posted 2nd class.

Some cars I sent to Canada took eight weeks to the day. Although I remained optimistic they WOULD get there it did get rather worrying as they were irreplacable.

Coming from the States I had a parcel that up until two days ago Track and Trace was saying was still bouncing around the American postal system. The very same day it arrived on my doorstep after five weeks. That same evening Track and Trace informed me my parcel was ready to leave the U.S!

The record has to be over 9 weeks from China. Posted 1st May (supposedly) and arrived 3rd July. Again T&T said it was still in China and would be delayed, right up until the day it was delivered.

(To be fair in the same period it took twelve days for a small packet to travel 80 miles within the UK!)

On the flip side a parcel from Australia only took seven days!

Lucky you! Package posted 1st May from Australia still hasn't arrived! UK post is normal now, three or four days.

Although there are some companies still running short staffed, I think many companies are using the pandemic excuse to be sluggish.
Some are on the ball, I had packages from Spain (Evotecshop) delivered in about 10 days (about the usual timeframe I have when using them) and this was before the lockdown restrictions were eased.
I telephoned a UK software development company yesterday, only to be told their customer service dept. was still working from home and I had to use email  Tappingfoot

I just received a parcel from New Zealand - took 2 weeks.

I also posted a parcel to NZ which took about the same time - however NZ Post office now have a rule - post from BE (maybe whole Europe???) has to be sent express signed for, which triples the postage price.......

I guess this is the new reality....

Or is it a simpler case of Price Gouging? I wouldn't accept this request as feasible as here in Australia, Australia Post refuse ALL signatures on ALL parcels including over the counter items at Australia Post, currently due to C19 so how can they charge for a service that they are NOT providing and as for posting Express, what a load of bullshit... if you don't want to send it express than you don't have too, it is you sending the item not them.

Tell them to stick their fraudulent signature on delivery as it isn't being implemented and you are not sending express as there is no statuary law stating this must be done.

The thing you do need to be aware of is, Australia Post have been charging for many months:
1. Postcode Origin to Postcode Destination,
2. Weight,
3. cubic area of parcel,

they then add all three items together and that is your charges... what  load of shit, price gouging pricks.

Then they have the balls to take three or more weeks to send your parcel when it should only take four days... deliberately holding mail and parcels in warehouses for two or more days, slowing delivery further.

I posted a small package from the U.K. to Pennsylvania. It was sent tracked, it went from England to New York and then on to Los Angles in four days it then took three weeks to get back across the country to the address in Pennsylvania. The postman must have come back across the country on a bicycle to deliver it. The package contained cars for a proxy race and they arrived after the race ended. Tappingfoot

I placed an order with HobbyLink Japan last Friday and it arrived to Toronto, Canada from Japan yesterday. I never had delivery this fast when things were normal.

I'm placing another order with them tomorrow. Just to test this theory.
