Cars bought by members in 2019
#81

Another eBay purchase, to go with the MSC Metro 6R4.

'Ready to race', it came with 'No grip' fronts too small to touch the track (it's 4WD!) on an axle 'adjusted' for different ride heights on either side, rear tyres that had aged differently - one was solid and had to be cut off in sections and the other was like a black marshmallow, a missing chassis adjustment screw and a motor 'held in place' by a screw that kept falling out.

Still, even with postage it was a good £20 less than others and approx 1/3 the 'collector price' someone else was asking.

All grist to the mill, which led to a few happy hours stripping, cleaning, oiling, replacing/substituting parts and re-assembling the chassis into a washed, cleaned and polished body, using a small spacer to raise the rear a little to clear the larger tyres.

Deep joy. Thumbup  I just love doing this stuff  Wrench

Still to address - the body sides slightly bowed along their length.

Oh - and it came with those gorgeous (Mitoos?) alloy wheels too.

Yeah I know what you mean, I bought these 2 second hand from different sellers.
The Red Bull had the motor glued in, but with some sort of epoxy, not hot-glue or shoo-goo, you know something that could be removed easily !
So some time spent carefully removal of the epoxy with a dremel and craft knife so I could get it out and test (I wanted both cars to perform as close to even as possible).
After all that, both motors were spot on the same performance anyhow  Tappingfoot

A strip down and clean , swapped guides for pro-race items I had in one of my box of spares.
Then re-assembled, wheel moulding nibs removed, lubed, oiled the tyres, and now a nice evenly matched pair to added to the collection Bigsmile

I think they all have that sir !
I fixed mine by screwing the chassis in tight, rubber bands around each end of the centre section with thin card in between, and gently heating with a hot air gun.
Let it cool for a while, removed the rubber bands, the sides sprung out just enough to leave a nice gap for body rock, but perfectly straight Cool
If yours has the universal MSC chassis, you may need a suitable sized block of wood/plastic (mine had the Scaleauto chassis).

Good to know it's a universal issue - sort of - and not a one off.

.. suitable sized block of wood it is then  Thumbup

I came away from AutoFest at Gaugemaster yesterday a very happy shopper...

Two Slotwings March 761s from 1976 - Ronnie Peterson's car that raced in the 'Monaco Fine Arts Gallery' livery at the Monaco Grand Prix  and Vittorio Brambilla's orange 'Beta' car that raced at the Italian Grand Prix. The Ronnie Peterson car is a limited edition.

This was top of my shopping list - the UK limited edition Thunderslot Lola T70 MkIII Aston Martin driven by Chris Irwin and Peter de Klerk at the 1967 Le Mans 24 hours...

That's number 050 of 200. I've written a bit more about it here: https://slotracer.online/community/showt...hp?tid=839

All three cars will be raced. One or other (or both) of the Marches will eventually have an Andi Rowland 3D printed chassis fitted.

I admit to a slight attraction to the Scalextric Nissan Pickup Trucks and have a few of them.  None had the flip-over mechanism though, so recently I got such a version. The blue vehicle needed a bit of work ( Wrench ) so I fitted glazing, an interior and a fourth wheel. The flipping mechanism was bit sticky and I was able to improve that by easing out the notches where the push-piece fits through the rear bodywork. The release then operated with a light touch. The flipping(!) mechanism then was nuisance as it released even if I looked at it the wrong way. It now has a screw locking it closed...
It arrived with the bull-bar fitted upside down but is now on one of my previous versions.
Youtube video to show how it works - (Please leave a comment, click Like, Subscribe, etc (even though I don't get any money for it))
