Dakar Raid mode in full flow in my garage. So dug out the 205 resin body I won in the free raffle at FDD5 last year and am in the process of fitting it onto a Mitoos chassis.

Its a heavy body, and when added to the lump of a chassis, its a solid combination! But its not a car you see racing, so worth the effort.

BRM 917 white kit is nearly done. Need to make the carbon fiber wing for the 911 GT1 '98 next.

A further update...it's quite addictive once you get into this assembly lark, noting that I haven't made or decorated any of these parts, I've just put them altogether.

Cartrix Lotus 16 bought a couple of years ago with a badly broken guide mount.

After making a chassis for a Scalextric Lotus 25 (the old one) that works nicely, it's time to do the same for this Lotus.

Chassis halves glued and roughly ground out.
A few millimetres of plastic left to grind out to fit the chassis.

A brass plate will hang under this 3D chassis.

The chassis is sandwiched between the bodyshell and brass plate allowing free movement of all three parts.

There will be 2mm ground clearance under the brass plate to conform to CSCRA regs that we race GP cars to.

Narrow track, wheels and tyres to suit.

I have a chassis design for inline slimline motor but this chassis is for a Flat 6 motor, possibly one from a Racer Sideways Group 5 that are mild enough.

I forgot to add rear axle will be in Slotit spherical bearings and have height adjustment. Front axle will be through a brass tube and also height adjustable.
Adjustable height makes it easy to set proper ground clearance.

Hey all, total beginner here. I’ve picked up a cheap 1/32 kit and a basic home track. Before I dive in, any “wish I knew this earlier” tips?
I’m especially unsure about:
  • primer/paint order (rattle can vs brush for small details)
  • glue choice for clear parts
  • simple tuning to keep it planted (weights? tires?)
  • power: stock wall pack okay for now?
I’m not aiming for concours—just want something that runs clean and looks decent. Any quick do’s/don’ts would help a ton. Thanks!

Here's the wing sanded to shape. Need to fine sand it, polish it and mount it.
