In the hope of appealing to some kindred spirits out there I would be grateful for your indulgence in understanding the purpose of building this track and what it meant to me.

Outside of indulging my own selfish reasons for building some sort of legacy, I had two primary objectives:
  1. Broadening awareness of Mission Motorsport and helping to raise funds for theme
  2. Supporting the Scalextric Brand and deepening the relationship I fostered between them and Mission Motorsport.
At the tender age of 60 I suspect I am no different to many of us on these forums who are looking back on their lives and keen to leave a legacy to be proud of.
17 years of being a tearaway child, followed by 20 years of military service, followed by 23 years of corporate IT sales has left me in a very privileged position to be able to help less fortunate veterans.

Having used my Havenwood track for the past 10 years to help raise money for various charities, it was an obvious concept for me to try and do something similar, but with a greater focus, for Mission Motorsport. A charity that uses motorsport as an excuse to get reclusive, isolated and vulnerable veterans out of their abodes and into a social environment for a chat. Goodwood features heavily on the 100+ events that Mission Motorsport organise each year and hence it seemed an obvious target for constructing a replica.

Scalextric had kindly donated a race set as a prize, which went to a very talented 9 year old who managed to get a out of the box Scalextric Mustang, operating at 60% power around the track a couple of hundreths over 8 seconds. (What was your best time Gary Skipp?).

Very inspiring read sir. So fun to hear about the 9-year old boy as well. Keep up the great work!

As promised we have now got ourselves organised with a lot of help from chums across the community and delighted to inform anyone who is visiting the UKSF on 11/12 May that you can have a try out on the Goodwood track.

If you have a SSD digital Revival eligible car then why not bring it along. See the attached for details of the racing and how to register.

Looking forward to seeing some old and new faces at Gaydon next month.

Cheers Paul

Preperation continues for UK Slot Fest....

New Staffs Slot Cars 6 spoke wheels arrived and have now been fitted to the two Mission Motorsport GT86 cars:

Sadly the orginals are somewhere between black and grey and I opted for the black one, which doesnt do justice to these superb looking wheels. (They might be up for a pit stop before you see them in the flesh....)

The chassis was developed for a sidewinder to allow a full interior, but this impacts the ability to get the rubber under the arches, so Mr Amato is adpating for the inline fit:

And I finally top coated Car 53 ready for interior and light details:

Other news from the messy area :-) the Ken Miles Cup fleet are getting their new liveries.
Trying out some new acrylic paint from CassArt called Molotow. Primarily price driven, but the results look good so far. My only question is how hard it will get before 11th May.

(No Becks was damaged in this process ;-) Already out of life....  Tappingfoot

Big Thank You to an anonymous Benefactor who appears to have posted me a set of 10 SureChange Guides.

I am assuming someone read the discussion between myself and Graham and generously donated some.

Whoever or whoever, Thank you.
