Does anyone have a lot of spares for airfix cars?
I bought a batch of bodies from Barry Boor a while back with the intention of getting them running with old mrrc chassis I have, but they are just too wide. Have managed to get a 196b into one of the coopers, but have now realised that for at least 6 I will need original motors and axles - hence the request.

Hi Anthony, Both the "stackpipe" #19 BRM, and the #6 Matra, have their own threads in the Scratchbuilding section here.........chassis, and build up pics.
The #20 Cooper is a 1/24 Atlas done in UDT Laystall green....it has had a few minor mods. but runs on an essentially stock Atlas chassis........I can't provide any more pics., as the car was sold a few years ago.
The #3 Ferrari is one of the old Scaly "Clamshell" chassis cars with the RX "train" motor. It has had a bit of a paint job, some new wheels/inserts, gearing, and a bit of motor work............runs great !!

I was looking through the pics on my computer today and came across literally hundreds of pictures of cars that I have had over the years.
back in the early 200's I was into collecting all cars -at the time I had to have one of each. A friend from Cape Town - Big Al Paterson painting a whole range of F1's on then current Nico cars. His detailing of the cars and especially the drivers was outstanding.he made all the decals himself at a time when virtually no-one else was doing it.
Outstanding for sure

Tony have you considered using a Policar mount. Pendles market a 3D printed front section designed for use with their resin F1 kits. I think it is also available direct from Amato who designed and print it for Pendle.
Not finished yet but the Airfix Porsche and Barry Boor Lotus 18 body below use the 3D front section and Policar pod. The chassis was a bit of a tight fit around the back of the Lotus but it fits with a bit of fiddling.
I don't have much in the way of F1. I have a 1/24 Russkit Honda which I posted in SSRC club thread, a couple of 50's GP cars with Pitlane chassis built to Early birds rules, 3 x different livery standard Policar Lotus 72 and a March 701 and those shown below which are all Policar conversions using Andi Rowland's 3D printed chassis.
Unfinished SRC Ferrari and Mclaren M23. Bodies and some detail parts were all bought from the SRC website when they were clearing out spare parts.
I did test the Mclaren but I used Pendle Scalex replacement front wheels which made the guide run too high so it kept deslotting. Policar fronts will solve the problem but I preferred the chunkier look of the Pendle wheels.
Fly Williams FW07 and Lotus 78
and lastly a slightly battle worn Fly March 761 converted for Policar.

What has just arrived are 2 F1 chassis from John May - will see how they work and put them up here.
However I now need spares like wheels tyres etc

The Lotus and Porsche both have either PCS or Penelope Pitlane wheels - sorry I can't remember exactly what I bought as they have been two of those projects where I have had to put them down and walk away a few times so they have been around for a while.
