These cars are all bog standard NSR Moslers, the only difference being the paint scheme.
We all use the same controllers which stay plugged into the track all night, strangely most use the same settings too.

...Alfa runs 7 to 8 tenths slower than these Moslers but not raced tonight.

Race reports - 8th December - Club Challenge #7

Chris was working, Andy has vertigo and Mike H couldn’t get to the club.

This was the final ‘Club Challenge’ of the year.

Andy’s challenge for this one was to give everyone a handicap with the aim of stopping the top three guys winning.

The ‘Andycaps’ given were as follows:
Andy/Kev - minus 12 laps
Brian - minus 10 laps
Geoff - plus 4 laps
Mike B - plus 5 laps
Chris - plus 6 laps
Gav/Mike H - plus 19 laps

So Gav started the evening 31 laps ahead of Kev

Two drivers plus three marshals (except the final heat) was the way the evening was run.  So fuelled with Brian’s freshly baked ginger cake (my favourite) we saw some close racing.

Round 1.

Kev laid the gauntlet down in Heat #1 with a win in Blue.
As Gav lined up for his first race next to Brian and looked like his car was going to be problematic Kev asked what his controller settings were for this car to which Gav replied “I don’t know”...Kev said “try Brian’s setting”...he was on a mission after that, easily his best night of the year.
Heat #4 was super close as Brian & Kev finished within one second of each other.
Heat #5 saw Geoff & Gav finish within one lap of each other.
Mike & Geoff struggled with many ‘offs’ in Round 1…not so Round 2.

Round 2.

Mike tweaked the pod on his car, Geoff tweaked the settings on his controller and both were miles quicker as a result, both improving by 5 laps better than their Round 1 result.

Heat #3 saw Geoff & Gav again finish within one lap of each other.
Heat #6 saw Gav & Mike B finish a lap apart…Gav winning his first heat in ‘Club Challenge’
The final heat, Brian vs Kev vs Geoff…with all to play for Kev & Brian were very close overall…trying to overtake on the outside lane going under the bridge is never a good idea as Brian lost a lap, Geoff flying round with his best result finishing a little over a lap behind Kev who managed to back off a little as Brian had two really bad laps in succession.

At the end of racing Brian had the fastest lap (anyone want a race prepped Mosler…Brian has a couple for sale), Kev had the best single lane score, Gav was on the podium on pure merit whilst Mike B & Geoff have discovered how to get an extra 5 laps.

After the ‘Andycaps’ were added to each driver's scores, Gav won by 11 laps from Kev, Brian, Mike B & Geoff.

Apart from the results from Club Challenge #7 I’ve done a chart showing the full 7 race series showing laps achieved and finishing positions…with an average finishing position for each driver.

Next week is the Club AGM - Christmas jumpers are mandatory for the next three weeks.  Bring food and some cars to race whatever you want after the AGM
