Back in isolation, so time to listen to and reflect on the chat...
How to get some secret slot car racing in on Halloween
An update report on the Worldwide Slot Car Chat car restoration project, were the paint finish to the chassis and the detailing of the wheels and tyres just have to be seen to be believed. And the same attention is now being placed on the motor restoration...spoiler alert, its has star windings (watch Greg's eyes at this revelation!)
Racing slot cars with impaired vision
Slot cars you can actually sit in and race
Braids braids braids
Beginners guide to maintaining cars (and the tools required)
Beginners guide to racing fast (clue, start slow)
And finally...the best kept secret upgrade for slot car tracks...!
All played out to the soundtrack of a live Group 5 slot race!

One question was all that was needed to get the juices running amongst the racers on the chat, but that tyre treatment juice could be...
3 in 1 oil
Fairy Liquid
Bar-b-que lighter fuel
Printer ink cleaner
...or as far as I could tell, anything that eats tyre rubber and then burns or evaporates off.
Other titbits in the chat included: -
Basis 'out the box' preparation to enhance your enjoyment of a slot car, and if that is too much like hard work, which cars can be raced straight out of the box
Advanced rear axle set up
Advanced motor pod set up
Can you have too much tyre grip?
And finally, what a $65,000 slot track looks like, and how much it costs to have it delivered to your garage!

As Leo says, an unmissable episode. I usually have this on in the background whilst at my home office, but had to give up working as it was such a great watch. So...
Question: When is the best time to learn how to solder?
Answer: 20 years ago!
This chat developed into a masterclass on brass chassis building. So, detailed guidance on material, equipment, tools, design and implementation. But at the same time, a free flowing conversation on the joys of this hobby.

It really did all come together last night!
The worldwide Zoom chat is always good, but last night it was rivetting, or, should I say, soldering?
As I stated at the end of the evening, I learnt more in that hour about how to make a brass and piano wire chassis that works than I have in the last 10 years of being back in the hobby!
If you werent there or havnt watched it, do so now!
Regards, Lloyd
