Cars bought by members in 2023

You can't go wrong with a black car Sun

On the German Forum there was so much chatter about Revoslot that I decided to take a look myself and bought my first:

Following the recent legal ruling, I can confirm that although it dropped through my letterbox in 2024, it was clearly "bought in 2023" and is the first of a number of cars I have recently splashed out on...

So 2024 has a definite rally focus for me. I currently have a mix of 'Pro' and 'Clubman' rally cars in my Scuderia, and I felt there was an need to create two complete separate sets that I could call on, dependent on the level of competition at any event.

The Lancia Delta Integrale needs no introduction, but my interest started when I saw a road going version on a European trip in the early 80s. Livery-wise, we used to live near a dry cleaner in the late 80s who had the contract with nearby TAG McLaren to look after their team clothing. So you could often see rows of overalls and other kit in that distinct bright red chevron. So the moment I saw this SCX version of the Delta pop up in my FB feed, it didn't take long for me to decide to dip into my slush fund envelope and grab this limited edition model and kill two birds with one stone.

I'm leaving it in 80s-90s 'Clubman' spec, although I need to get my head round whether to keep the treaded tyres it comes with.

The second of my late '23 purchases arrived via an auction house this week...

Another SCX 'Clubman' spec car, again for the 80s-90s class. With 4wd via a double shafted motor and a crown gear on each axle, I'm looking forward to seeing how this one performs...it's wide and low, with little overhang front and rear!

And finally Cyril, the third of my rally car purchases, this one completes my armoury for the forthcoming Slot Rally GB...

Proven to be competative in the Classsic classs in other people's hands, let's see how I get on with it!

(Can there be anything better than a blue French car with an 'elf' livery?)

Yes the TS A310V6 is a great Slot Rally car, sadly mine was butchered many moons ago and sits chassisless...or is that underpanless and I really need to get a finger out and properly start looking at the cars I'll be using for our round in April

Life is like a box of Slot cars... Cool Drinkingcheers

'Not-a-car' bought in 2023.

Squeezed in under the wire, arriving just before Christmas. Lightly used and only missing the drivers side mirror it's been disassembled, carefully cleaned, gently washed, oiled and reassembled.

Not sure I like the original fitment black front wheels. I'm still pondering on whether to leave them as is, or to swap them out for 'silver' to match the rears.

Even so, love it!  Wrench

Playing catch-up, here's another 'Not-a-car'. This Hummer was bought back in October '23.

When it was unpacked I thought the previous owner had slathered it in oil but no - it was the Proslot tyres haemorrhaging vital fluids. I've never seen so much, it was everywhere!

First thing was to isolate and thoroughly dismantle it.

The tyres just 'mushed' and spat oil as soon as I gripped them, making removing the wheels a very messy job but once that was done it was an easy matter to remove the running gear from the body and gently prise off the roof rack so the spare wheel & tyre could also be discarded.

All was thoroughly 'degreased' then put to one side, awaiting the arrival of a full set of Mitoos alloy wheels and tyres. These and a Slot.it crown wheel were reamed out to fit the Proslot axles, spacers added to max out the track and the whole thing reassembled, including a Mitoos wheel and tyre bolted to the roof rack.

The alloys really lift the appearance to my mind, making it a great running mate for the custom crew cab Hummer I built for the proxy rallies during Lockdown.
