One other complication, as if there weren't enough already, is that if you've got "Start" track it may not be compatible with the main Scalextric Sport and Digital track system. I'm not sure though, hopefully someone who knows will pop in and enlighten us.

I don't think Tobias has "Scalextric START" sets as such, his sets are digital and all the Hornby digital sets use the "Scalextric SPORT" track.
Tobias - are the track sections soft (Sport) or hard (Start) plastic?
