2026 Season - Rnd 07 - Sat July 4th

Ten people turned up to race including first time visitors Chris's dad Wayne and Alan's friend Tim.

As a 'favour' to the newcomers the long track was set up to  run in the reverse direction, negating the regulars' trigger finger 'muscle memory'. It worked! See below. 

Support race: Owner/driver Policar Maserati GT4 cars fitted with 20K motors and very little other moderations allowed.

There were many crashes on the crossover bridge section, with the regular drivers re-learning (or forgetting) to brake on the uphill approach before turning left, rather than flat out down the long straight. Smooth driving and staying out of trouble was the order of the day, Ben making the best of it to come home first - but only by two fifths of a lap from Mark W and one point two laps ahead of Vic'. As an aside Ben also set the class fastest lap in the last heat!

                       

Practice for the main race saw Vic's Nascar suddenly stop with a strange sounding motor, followed by smoke coming out of the drivers windows, (a new innovation, 1/32 vaping?) forcing him to bring his backup car into action.

Main race: Owner/driver Muscle & Nascar cars with 20K motor.  

This was fast and furious with many cars banging doors together, cars being put on the wrong lane and some even being put on backwards! Despite Vic' pushing hard to secure the win over Ben in the last heat, he still couldn't stop him from taking the class  win and fastest lap here too. So, the top three were the same, with Ben first by quite a margin, Vic' moved up to second, with Mark W staying on the podium but this time in third place. New recruit Chris is pressing hard though, finishing on the same lap as third place man Mark W.
