[GT40Racer]

Around 1975 I was racing my new AFX Jackie Stewart Pit Stop Challenge set (I still have it as well) we had some Scalextric track and cars which we would set up around the school holidays but the AFX had more appeal to me - the the Magnatraction and G-Force cars they stayed on the track a lot better than the old Scalextric cars did. They also looked better - Scalextric cars to my eyes didn't look as much like the real thing not that we saw a lot of racing on TV  - we only started to have colour TV around that time as well (1975 in Australia and we had a Rank Arena TV that dad bought pretty early on)

Fast forward 50 years and boy are we spoilt today - I marvel at how good the cars look and how well they go.  Like you Ken I have too many cars - rationalism is catching up with me and I have slowed down the purchase of yet another shiny bauble (same car different livery) at one point I had way too many Scalextric GT40s (30+) now I try to keep it a lot more saner than that.... though sometimes resistance is futile - LOL at least I have given up trying to collect every (insert particular type of car) now. 

I have also shifted from mainly 1/32 to 1/24 cars now. I enjoy the Carrera and BRM rtr cars and bought an another Scaleuauto the other day. I have also shifted back to building 1/24 kits - mainly with metal chassis though I am working on a 3D printed chassis for them as well.
