Manufacture “performance” standards?
#2

The main split is between hobbyist brands and toy brands. Carrera and Scalextric are the major “toy” cars. A good way to start a lively discussion is to ask which “hobbyist” cars are best. NSR, Scaleauto, Thunderslot, Slot.it/Policar and Sideways are all good major brands.

When I picked up the hobby again a few years ago, I chose to focus on Slot.it to begin with because the cars were a little less expensive but still high quality with a good selection of makes, models and liveries. They were straightforward to learn tuning on and easy to find parts for. To me it made sense to learn the ins and outs of one brand to get a handle on the basics of these modern cars with motor pods.

Since then I have bought cars from all of the hobbyist brands as well as from some smaller companies.

Just one man’s opinion. Welcome to the forum, and I’m sure you’ll get plenty of other responses.
