I'm away from my cars for a week or so now so can't take any measurements, but as a holding answer, I'd have thought mine are in the range of 1mm-2mm, all coupled with sprung guides. 

There's no one right answer...the lower the car, to quicker you have to go over hump back bridges to avoid grounding!
