This is the ‘full’ range launch - a far better experience in my opinion! However, there may well be some ‘surprise’ announcements through the year (sorry if that spoils your surprise….).
Personally, I think there’s some really great stuff in there. For racers, there’s another touring car gap being filled with the Volvo and BMW 320i - plus the bang-up-to-date Mustang GT3 and the Porsche LMDh. The Porsche joining the Cadillac is brilliant. I agree with Hub with the Sierra - didn’t see that coming! And loads of great new liveries, including two nice Anglias - one a hot rod. And Gerry Marshall’s Triplex Capri. I’m still hoping for a Dolomite…
The collectors twin and triple packs are pretty nice. I’m glad they’re sticking with these, despite some classy releases ending up in the sales bin last year. The two rally packs - 1965 Monte and Colin McRae triple - are very tempting. The Ken Miles release too.
The TV & Movie stuff brings in the money and new customers. The Captain Scarlet vehicles should hopefully follow on from the success of FAB1. If I had the space and the cash, I’d snap up any Gerry Anderson cars that come out - it is full-on 70s nostalgia for me.
And those are a decent pair of 1:32 beginners sets - one showcasing the new Fast & Furious franchise - and a new Micro release too. Scalextric - and Hornby generally - are reported to have done really well last Christmas, with sets the keystone to that success. They have an attractive line-up to choose from and these new ones are nice additions.
It really is good to see the full arc of the team’s creative efforts in one go. An excellent year - a couple of new tools off one of their best, I think.
