In order to maintain its claim to be "The Pinnacle Of Motorsport" F1 needs to stay current/relevant.
Ask yourself why you follow F1 and not Formula Ford (is that still on the go?).
I am a big fan of the World Rally Championship. UK club rallying can be good fun but when you have seen 20 Ford Escorts cornering sideways for the zillionth time, the attraction slips.
