The recently extended track was used, with newbies Graham and James doing particularly well for their first time on a large circuit.
1st Support race: Club Scalextric Karts
The Karts produced some very close racing with `do or die’ driving to gain an extra section as per the photo, where the power was switched off just before it crossed the beam at the end of the race. Mark J took the overall win, one point four laps ahead of Vic, who was harassed to the line by relative newcomer Ben, who was just a tenth of a lap down. In fact it was that close that second to fifth places were covered by just three tenths of a lap.
2nd Support race: Club Sideways cars
Another win and close finish for Mark J, this time Ben slotting into second spot just half a lap down. The Sideways Gp5's were MUCH faster cars for the new drivers, with faster crashes involving innocent cars - but that's racing for you.
Main race, Owner/driver Sports and GT
The owner/driver class produced an extremely varied field with six different slot car manufacturers and seven full scale makes represented. Vic took first place in his own right with a Slot.it Porsche 956 and third with one of his loan cars, an NSR Aston Martin driven by Mark R. Ben's really giving the established drivers a hard time, finishing in the top three for the third round of the night, putting his yellow NSR McLaren in second place. Graham and James showed their hand here, finishing mid-field in their first 'open class' event, boding well for the future.

(As well as club cars Vic' also provided loan cars for those that needed them. Club controllers are also provided so the first 'trial meeting' is entirely free for those that want to give the Bury St Edmunds club a try.)
