I have many versions of all the cars that had them. Jaguar and Mazda Group Cs, Volvo and Peugeot Touring cars and Chevy and Ford NASCARs.
When I joined the Petersfield Scalextric Club in September 1992, the existing members were excitedly waiting for their release, having been announced at that year's London toy trade fair. When they arrived they were soon put to racing in a new class.
Weirdly, the Jaguar was always better than the Mazda. Even when the identical chassis were switched from one to the other, the Jags were always the winning car. Can only think it was something to do with the Jags larger tail, so we put the two Jags on the trickier outer lanes and the Mazdas in the middle to try to even things up a little.
