MSCC Slot Rally 2023
#5

Rally reports - 25th May - TT Grandstand & Little Druidale -

What a great turnout tonight, 7 club members, Alan who’s visiting the island for 6 weeks, Nigel who has been to the club a few times recently…and Rog was back after a long absence (he loves his Rally action).

A great variety of classes were represented, 14 Standards, 14 ProStocks and 12 Open Class cars meant lots of competition for places.

Standard 80’s, once a popular class for Ninco Porsche 911’s, most of us have one somewhere and tonight Chris brought his out of retirement.

Rog & Mike H had two cars each in Standard 2WD, we should expect Rogers standard cars to be the ones to catch, Mike’s Toyota GT4/2 was closest and his best standard car tonight.

Standard 4WD, a pair of Citroen C4’s…’this is my favourite car’ said Rog and showed why it was his favourite as he kept it ahead of Chris’s.

ProStock Classic, Mike H’s best car tonight couldn’t catch Kev’s TR7

ProStock 80’s, Nigel borrowed four cars tonight, his Metro 6R4 didn’t really stand a chance catching Kev’s Opel Manta which was the quickest car round TT Grandstand tonight.

ProStock 2WD, the most popular class for many months now, nine cars and the top four covered by only 2.4 seconds as Rog, Brian, Chris & Geoff were unbelievably close.

Open Small Classic, Alan drove Andy’s proxy Jag XK120, it’s a fabulous car to drive round our Rally stages but couldn’t catch Andy’s Mercedes 300SLR.

Open Classic, Alan driving another of Andy’s cars, the DeTomaso Pantera is a very rapid car but not on the pace of Andy’s Mustang but was Alan’s best run tonight.

Open 80’s, Ed joined Alan & Andy but really struggled with this car, not really able to keep it moving constantly.  It’s become clear we need to find a solution for Ed’s limited hand mobility, a thumb controller looks like the answer as he tried flipping his controller up and used his thumb and seemed to have more control straight away.  Andy’s Porsche 959 is far too good on our Rally stages for Alan to keep up with his Porsche 911.

Open 2WD was well represented, Geoff decided at the last minute to use his Supra when he heard Chris was using his Supra, Brian’s Peugeot 206 separated them at the end.  Alan drove the all-girl crew in the Alfa 147 GTA to within a few seconds of Chris’s Supra.

Other cars that were sole class entries were Kev’s proxy Jag XK120 with a motor upgrade in ProStock Small Classic…it’s just as easy to drive but ‘get’s there’ much quicker, in fact set the fastest time of all round Little Druidale.  This was Kev’s quickest car overall.
Andy’s 4WD Mitsubishi was the quickest overall car tonight and one of four cars to finish in 130 seconds.

Class wins: Brian, Kev, Rog, Andy & Geoff
