I hope you don't mind resurrecting this very interesting thread.

The Porsche GT3 has always been a popular choice and goes better SW than AW for Rally (we aren't limited to inlines).

The ASV is an even better Rally car but strangely better as AW than SW for Rally.

Rarely do we see the Clio and Abarths these days, they just aren't competitive, I'd go as far to say they'd go much better if they were 5mm narrower as wide short wheelbase means darty and unpredictable.
