Saturday 14th Jan. race night
Seven attendees with three being visitors, giving hope for better numbers in the future.
Round One - Club Escorts - built and maintained by Vic.
There was a bit of a whoopsie with the first heat, which had to be abandoned with Vic in the lead. With the PC being down last month the DS Timers had been set to laps, rather than time, the reminder coming just sixteen seconds from the 'usual' PC managed end, as the the heat finished early. It was re-run but ... argh! Thankfully that didn't set the tone for the rest of the night.
Unsurprisingly, the locals filled the top four places, being used to both the cars and track, David taking the top step of the podium by less than half a lap from Vic. Could Vic's potential first heat win have given him overall victory? Mm? Anyway ... behind them there was quite a gap to third place man Bill, who headed a very tight group in the fight for that last step.
Round Two - Owner/Driver Saloons with 20k motors, max.
This saw many different cars racing from an old Audi A4 and Rover SD1 up to more recent Touring cars. Close racing yet again with the winning BMW car, one of three on the grid, being driven by Vic - adding to the weight of 'what might have been' if that original first heat for the Escorts hadn't ended in a re-run.
Unfortunately Philip had to leave before this class where one of the Alans, a visitor, split the locals with a good half lap win over Mark to take second spot. However, Vic was well dialled in and determined to make good after the Escorts, taking the top step by just over three laps.
