Saturday Oct. 15th race night.

Bill sorts out Race Coordinator for the first class of racing - the popular Pioneer Legends. 

   

All looking the part they were - finally - FULLY race prepared and ran 6 x 3 minute heats totally reliably. No mechanical issues whatsoever and only one roll-over.Cars remained on the lanes as drivers rotated - but there was nothing to chose between them performance-wise. With new trued tyres of the correct type, the blue car's handling now matched the other three

   

It loooks like Vic' is trying to figure out what the heck he's holding. Actually, nursing a strapped trigger finger he's trying to figure out the best way to hold the controller to minimise discomfort. His injury didn't seem to hamper his competitiveness though. 

     

Racing was extremely close, with the cars being very stable, forgiving and evenly matched. Not sure whether the additional work between meetings improved the handling or people were just getting used to them but there were no more tank slappers either.  

     

The top four were covered by just 1.6 laps after 18 minutes of IROC style racing, Mark taking his first win of the night. .

   

Owner/driver saloons with a maximum 20k rpm motor were next, this being one racers rather quirky 'team' set-up.

     

Rob, in the red cap, was making his presence felt after a long absence. Second with the Legends he was going to take third in saloons.

     

A rather eclectic mix. The silver NASCAR was a loan car donated on the night, Mark using it to show it didn't matter what the car was, he was one of, if not THE top driver in the club.

They're off! From left to right Mark, Vic, Rob and David, Vic being first away with Rob and Mark hot on his heels and David bringing up the rear.

   

Yes, Vic was getting the measure of driving with his injured trigger finger, overcoming his hand-icap to take the Saloon Car win.

A not-so-common BMW M1. At least, I've not seen this one before?

   

Mark takes his second win of the night, Rob his second runner up spot and Mr Consistent, Doug his third last place  .
