It was a brilliant return of digital racing to the Barn last night...
24 racers lined up for a one-hour Nascar team race in six teams of four and delivered some close and exciting racing...
The eventual winners having a late scare in the final 20-minute segment, but it was joy - and not a little relief - behind those masks on the podium...
We should have had 11 Pioneer Legends cars making their debut in a new class...
...but one had a mechanical issue, so we had 10 cars and 20 drivers for some of the closest racing we've ever seen at the Barn...
Two 5-minute qualifying heats were followed by a 5-minute semi, with six cars fighting over three step-up spots into the 8-minute feature race...
The quick-fire format was perfect for the Legends cars, especially as the rear tyre grip disappeared quite quickly during the race. The final drama was #2 McD Chevy overtaking the #55 Perrier Dodge in a 3-car pile-up...
...but it turned out the #2 was only un-lapping itself. Phew!
A big thanks to everyone who came along and raced - and especially to the super-efficient set-up, race control and tear-down crews. Despite a couple of Pioneer braid-induced shutdowns, we were all done before our advertised 9.45pm finish.
Expect results, a report, video and championship tables through today and Friday...
