I used to be a keen cyclist in my younger days, but I always considered it just a common courtesy to drop into single file when there was other traffic about.

The roads round here are all narrow and twisty, but yesterday we suddenly came across a bunch of about forty cyclists coming toward us round a tight corner, four or five abreast, and several on completely the wrong side of the road.

I'm not sure when these road warriors became a thing, but it must surely occur to them that a car is always going to come out of any contact better than a cyclist.
