Just bought the boxed unused DTM Merc' in the 'Huge Car Sale'. Turned out to be the same size as other 1/32 cars but anyway ..... 
I thought the Mercedes star was missing too - but what looked like a tiny bit of flash at the back edge of the grill WAS the star, which was slowly slipping down behind the grill. I managed to retreive it with a pair of tweezers and it's now safely packed away with the other 'under base spares'.
I was fortunate not to have any of the QC issues but did increase the front and rear track, pushing the wheels right out to the edge of the bodywork.
Tuning wise I kept the chassis screwed down tight but eased the pod screws off a turn and a half and the car runs more smoothly and quietly now. Still 'playing' but I love it.
