I was just reading through this thread Johnno and Woodcote, and I was curious about whether you ever received a reply from Daniel,
but I also wanted to correct an error - "Debounce" in the Trackmate software, has nothing to do with minimum lap times.

Debounce is related to the polling of the sensor by the software. It is a setting in the software installation.
When people are using photo-sensors, I usually tell them to leave it at 1, but if they have a problem with reliability, switch to 3 (Options are 1-4)
For Dead strip use, 1 will always work.
Minimum lap time is in the Options menu, and simply expressed in seconds to 2 decimal places.

It goes without saying, that if you have the minimum lap time set too high, (default is 1.8 seconds), you will miss laps,
and get a loud buzz warning sound each time the lap sensors receive a trigger under that minimum time.
(But I said it anyway :) )
That options screen above is where you set everything up that will make the software work the way YOU want it to.
In our club we run auto-advance/rotation to keep guys on point - and still sometimes have to pause the rotation...
We use something like 25 seconds till rotation so drivers and check what they did in a heat, then 45 seconds after
rotation, to get themselves stickered up and ready to go again.
We use F1 countdown and about 1 second coast time at the end of heats. That prevents any dispute of whether a lap
was counted at the end of a heat if the car is still moving and goes under the light gantry after "Heat Over".
For people's general help, I have a Quick Setup Guide available for free download.
With this most people can get a system up and running after hardware install, in about 5 minutes.
