Hello All
I am one of those people who was quite active in a club 50 years ago but just stopped when I left the parental home. My son had a Scalextric set but wasn’t interested. I dug it out and set it up in the garage for something to do while I was advised not to go out due to Covid 19. Anyway since to upgrading to an Arc Air I can race against a pace car. I still lose. However I have acquired a few slot cars and assembled some kits so I have been kept occupied.
The technology now is interestingly different. Back in the late 1960s it was about soldering brass chassis and rewinding motors. Now I can purchase 3D printed chassis!
Best wishes
Tony

Hello Tony, welcome back to the hobby - sounds like you still have the Slot-Car bug !
Hope you have not been seriously affected by COVID-19.

Welcome back. If you want to race in open meetings and want to build brass chassis again you can always enter some CSCRA meetings.
http://www.cscra.co.uk/Home.html
You can use 3D chassis and ready to run cars for some of their events but it will lower your concours score.
The meetings are competitive but friendly and no one minds whether you are fast or slow as long as you enjoy your day.

I should have mentioned in my last post that Southend Slot Racing Club is based in Pound Lane, Benfleet which can't be far from you.
We are currently closed due to coronavirus restrictions but hope to resume racing in October subject to confirmation. You are welcome to come along for a look once we are up and running again.
We have a 4 lane routed wood track and run a variety of modern 1/32 classes on Tuesday evenings. We also run vintage evenings one Friday a month in the winter and every two weeks in the summer. For details of rules and other info please see the club website.
http://www.southendslotclub.co.uk/home.html
There are links at the top of the calendar and rules pages to take you to vintage dates and rules although some of the vintage rules need updating.
Your first night is free and we can usually find a car and controller for you to borrow for the evening so that you can have a go.
