BRM 1/24 Escort
#1

Just picked myself up a nice used BRM Escort. Still in the post but can't wait to see it.

One question though. Can it too be raced side by side with other small BRM 1/24 cars on 1/32 Scalextric track?

I assume so as it can't be much different in size to the Opel Kadett and new Alfa but strangely it's the one car that Pendles site does not specifically say can.

I assume so too. The Pendles site does say...

Quote:The range of Mini-Saloon 1/24 slot cars by BRM and TTS for Scalextric and racing track systems

The Escort is listed with those other BRM "Group-2" cars. Which one did you snag? Those Escorts are lovely-looking cars... I have given in to overwhelming temptation and there's an Alfa on its way - my first hard-body 1/24 scale car.

A while ago I got the metallic grey Martini Mini with Fl. Ong. wheels.

Yesterday I grabbed this white Castrol Escort.

I like the Alfa too but both my purchases have been 'as new' second hand, giving a small saving, even over Pendles discounted prices and as I intend to run them anyway .....

Doing a little bit of reading up on the small BRM 1/24 cars it sounds like there could have been some production changes over time, with possibly up to three revisions for the Escort. Not so sure how many for the Mini.

Anyone know how I can I tell which I have and what the changes were for both the Mini and Escort please?

Also, the Mini came with a pair of smaller front tyres and an additional rear axle gear. Should the Escort have similar 'extras'?

There are 2 different Minis - the later one with 10" scale wheels and the newer with 12" scale wheels (same size as the NSU). Also newer Mini has camber system.

Ah, thank you.

My Mini would be the later version then, as it has the camber system.

Love that Gulf Mini Thumbup

Hey there Mitch, I just got a hold of the 1:24 Alan Mann #16 as per your post in this thread. Are you racing this littel car on your track?

I am having some issues getting this thing fettled more so noise wise. I've got boddy float, I've been told I need to re-align the pinion and crown, slightly out... thoug they look ok to me, but what do I know being new to this.

I remove the body and the noise drastically reduces unsure what or where to go next. Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks
Johnno

Check the body for parts that are not glued in properly. They usually make noise if some part is rattling around and not secured properly.

I suspect the real culprit is the cockpit/interior, it is only thin plastic, very much like that of lexan and I think the vibration is just made worse by this think plastic.

I've also noticed there is one rear tyre rubbing on the inside of the body which I am to adjust, will do that now since I have taken a break from relocating the gantry etc on the track, time for a diffferent item to work on  Talking
