Whats on your bench ...

Here's what's new on the bench...!

This picture is straight out of the crate and onto the cart. I need to tear it down and clean everything of all the grease, and then remove the tool post and replace it with the QC unit I bought.

No, it's one of those new magical tools that spits out whatever you tell it to! And it does it out of metal!! Remember from the Jetsons cartoon show?!?!

Our club monthly race day this year is a bag of 3 races for broader appeal with the club offering loaner cars if you do not have one for a particular class.  These classes are roughly defined as.
1. Scalextric RTR with white endbell motors only.
2. Super 1/32 which in general is any 1/32 scale running any Plafit 1/32 chassis with magnets.
3. Narrow 1/24 or 1/28 using the Plafit 1/24 chassis with no magnets.

I need to make repairs or source new car for race 1.  My main cars had been carrera and few Scalextric.  Any that were fast have aged and in need of repairs.
Race 2 I have a number of options that will be more competitive.  On the day I had used the Toyota Alphard for fun, next time will be more sensible.
Race 3 is now the focus.  My NSX police car was stable and reliable, just lacked some speed in corners - especially after the light bar had been added  Bigsmile

For some strange reason the Claire Frost Mercedes C9 spoke to me....  But after getting the kit it is a large 1/24 scale and not suitable for the club track.
So I went my own way and got a Kyosho 1/28 body of the C9 and remade the decals.

Lots still to do and few weeks left before the next race event.  Hoping to have at least 2 possible entries per race that can be used.

I still have some clean up to do and some trimming the excess from the front axle, but now it is sitting right and ready to do some laps.

I wanted to get this running before Saturday as the CEO of +One will be at the club to hand over a controller to one of the members and upgrade some other members controllers.  Will be a good chance for me to see what a difference a good controller can make.

I think the decals on this will take some more practice for future builds.  I think they will improve with practice to get flatter.  learned this time with this type of decal that Mr Hobby Softener will cause the inks to run as not really suitable for this type of transfer.

And a quick AI slop to put it in a suitable setting  Bigsmile

Was surprised to learn that Olifer produced a 3d printed chassis for the SCX Touareg. When Joao then told me he also had some spare bodies...well it would be rude not to!

Fitted with a new Mitoos motor and various other components from my Dakar parts bin, it runs really well on my flat test track. Looking forward to seeing how it goes once I get the dunes out.

Here’s where I’m at with my first D3 Hardbody Group C brass chassis car build.

Motor pod is completed and I’m coming up with how I want to build the chassis. Good thing I have help from a pro!

Two….

      Become one.

Despite having built both of Turner Motorsports usual liveries, I couldn’t resist re-creating the split livery that they ran at Sebring this year.

The white kit and decals have been ordered. I’ll post what I manage to cobble together.

I started following Will Turner’s IMSA BMW team after buying some performance parts for the big car from them. Bill Auberlein, their longtime primary driver became the winningest driver in IMSA series not too long  ago. He’s has moved on, but Robby Foley has evolved nicely from the young hotshoe to a fast, consistent competitor and lead driver.

Fly BMW M3 E30 being fitted up with a new 3D chassis.
6 degree Anglewinder with integrated motor mount.

This is the draft version, you always have to make adjustments no matter how well you measure the bodyshell.
MK2 is printing now.

A reasonably straightforward white kit build from Racer Sideways...straightforward as in no instructions, but it's not too difficult to work out where all the little bits go!
