Rofl well the question has been asked, the Scalextric side of the Hornby brand has been faulting for years now, it has come back from failure, all terrific, for what could be 'icon of slot cars', after all it was the Scalextric brand that pulled me into the hobby.

If Scalextric is to survive, it needs to change, it needs to modernise their slotcar brand, it needs to re-invest in the Scalextric brand like Hornby Trains continues to do, it needs to take the same care and consideration placed on the Hornby model trains, Airfix and Rivarossi brands.

Present cars with items as standard such as: steel axles, allow wheels, grub screws, NO knurled toy system, leave the motor, why not, better guide, better chassis, better materials, better quality, considering the price of a standard Scalextric car at the retailers in Australia now, you may as well put an extra $30 and grab a NSR, Slot.it and if lucky a Revoslot.

We need these brands around, will they change? can they change? are they even capable of change? wiil they survive, can they survive? We shall just have to wait and see

Johnno I suggest you watch the following episode of "Talking Utter Slot" :

It may dispel some of your erroneous thinking about what Scalextric's target market is/or should be. I particularly recommend Simon's comments about when and where their major sales push is focused.  Their current top three selling products may be a bit of a surprise as well.

NSR, SlotIt & Revo don't make the same cars that Scalextric makes, those cars they do make the same are clearly not the same scale.

Again... I struggle understanding why all this is never addressed directly to the manufacture themselves...
