Worthing Digital Wednesday - 19 April 2023
#1

We're back at the Barn next week for what should be the final Nascar-Legends double-header of the year.

Doors open at 6.30pm for practice and our digital driving school. Teams are allocated for the Nascar club car race, which starts at 7pm. Teams swap cars after 15 or 20 minutes, depending on attendence, giving a 60-minute race in total. The Legends pairs race begins at around 8.30pm - this is an owner-driver class, although everyone who wants one should get a seat in a car. There are two qualifying heats, a knock-out semi and a final feature race - all with a driver-change at half distance. We aim to finish by 9.45pm.

The race fee is £3 for adults, £2 for under-16s. All ages and abilities are very welcome! We ask that all racers 12 years-old and younger bring a responsible adult with them. We also ask that if you're feeling unwell with Covid or 'flu-like symptoms that you stay home.

There are more details about our digital racing in the WHO Digital Guide 2023 pdf available on our website:  https://www.whoracing.org.uk/who_digital.html

Slightly late results posting, due to a local outbreak of the cough and catarrh thats doing the rounds,

18 drivers made the April WHO digital NASCAR/legends round,

Simon had designed a cracker of a track which provided some close racing,

The CLC lane changers positions provided some excellent overtaking opportunities

and some of the mixed radius turns caused some initial carnage untill drivers respected them...

The 18 drivers where divided up into teams of three.....7mins each driver and three heats of 21 mins.

RESULTS

Pioneer Legends race followed,

There where 8 pairs entries this month so no semi final and top three from the two heats went into final

First semi pairs,MIKE D/ASH, DEAN/RYAN, MIKE/DANIEL, SIMON/DUNCAN

Second semi final pairs,OLIVER/MATTHEW, TERRY/OLI, KEVIN/ISAAC, ALEX/PETE

FINALS

An extended race of 10 mins, driver change at 5mins,

The final produced an epic battle between the top two pairings, nothing separating them

until a false pit entry and trip to the floor concluded the matter for one of the contenders..

great racing guys

Sterling work by Ash and Oliver on race co-ordinating and race control kept the evening on schedule Yes Yes

Big thanks to all who help set up and make tear down so easy Handshake
