Cars bought by members in 2022

More Slot.its, this time the Lancia.

The first to join the fleet was the Totip car. Obviously an ex-racer it was quite presentable at a distance but required a bit of cosmetic work. The main plane of the rear spoiler was broken where it projected beyond the support and had been repaired with over-liberal amounts of styrene cement, which had splattered down the side. Despite that, the smaller upper plane was still detached. Careful paring back with a craft knife reduced the appearance of the splodges and a neater repair effected. One end of the little 'diaplane?' at the front was loose, although easily fixed but worst of all, the clear headlight cover on that side was missing. 'Tearproof' body parts are on order from Top Slots 'n' Trains to sort out the missing mirrors in order to cover the styrene splodge, where an unsuccesful attempt had been made to secure one. This all sounds pretty negative but I love it. It actually looks great and will be raced, not pampered  Bigsmile Oh, it's got an NSR Shark 25 motor in it too.

The unusual green/red Martini version came from a Facebook Marketplace ad'  and just needed a thorough clean. The mirrors have been shortened but hey - it was a racer too - and the 'stumpies' have survived. The pod has been changed by the previous owner and a Slot.it Boxer/2 installed along with a red guide and supersticky rear tyres.

Finally the #5 Martini car was a real bargain find at the recent slot car festival. £20 boxed! it was absolutely filthy with race crud. It also had similar spoiler damage to the Totip car but on the opposite side and more carefully repaired. I did need to break it apart to realign the parts correctly though. Other than that the rear wheels are missing their inserts and one mirror is missing. Amazingly though, taped to the bottom of the case were some spares, including - clear headlight covers!! Guess where one went  Thumbup

The final threesome with a single theme - Rally cars.

All three bought this year but I can't recall when and from whom, each was from a different seller - and 1/32 and 1:1 manufacturer.

First up is the lovely little SCX Talbot Sunbeam Lotus. My Mum had one of these - ostensibly - not the rally version of course but an everyday (bright red) shopping trolley version. However, she rarely got a chance to use it as my Dad loved driving it every chance he could. Cool Imagine what he'd have thought of the Lotus tweaked version!

Next up is somebody else's scratchbuilt Audi. It uses a Scalextric body with an MRRC Sebring Series chassis. No idea how it drives as I haven't had a chance to use it yet. Just loved the look of it.

Finally, a Scalextric Lancia Delta in the stunning Totip livery. This came before the Slot.it Totip Lancia and fueled the drive to get that one. Makes a nice alternative to the usual Martini cars.

The first two are inline, this one's a sidewinder, while both factory cars have lights all round, although those of the Sunbeam didn't live up to that name. The rear lights were ok but the fronts weren't even a dim glow. It took quite a bit of fiddling with the SCX copper tracks and tabs before they did BEAM.  Bigsmile

Another Gaydon purchase. These were priced individually but a deal was struck for the pair. The best will be going to the Extreme Slotting Proxy in August. I'm hoping it will be the red one as someone entered a white one last time.

A cracking Gaydon score. Missing the mirrors as usual but it has both roll bar supports, which are often broken or missing. The engine was missing one 'injector stack?' but my Vanquish scrapyard yielded the necessary. I'm absolutely thrilled with this acquisition, as cleaned and polished it looks spectacular  Cool

A couple of the more unusual and eye catching liveries on the Slot.it Porsche 956.

Another FB Marketplace find, the Babycresci/Burago car came first. Being very striking, lightly used but complete with mirrors and wiper it's in lovely condition and was at such a silly-cheap price I couldn't pass it up.

'Oh yes, it will be mine.'  Bigsmile

Its companion Spirit of America car was spotted at Gaydon and took two days of haunting the stand before it was mine at a price I liked  Thumbup It is missing the wiper but other than that looks to have had even less use than the #9.

A slight variation on the theme. This time one NSR and one Slot.it - but both red Fords.

The NSR P68, in addition to the usual strip down and clean, only needed new tail lights. A visit to the local Hobbycraft store yielded over a thousand self-adhesive coloured 'crystals' for less than £3. A quarter are purple so not much use but the rest make very convincing scale taillights (bright and dark red) and amber indicators, although the latter were not required here.  I can't recall where the car came from though!

The Slot.it GT40 was spotted on 'the other forum' and came with a central black stripe. Being vinyl tape it was easily but carefully removed as it had been applied before the glass and grills were installed. Fortunately, although pliable it was quite strong so could be teased out without damaging or having to detach anything other than the engine cover's grill. This is currently taped underneath, to be reinstalled when I've sourced and applied some suitable decals.

A plain red GT-40 truly highlights the beautiful body lines. I might leave that rare bird alone.

Nice pair!

Cheers,
