Hello All,

Complete Newbie to the 1/32 scene. Been purchasing slot cars since Feb 2020, just before lockdown. I've now got time to solder in chips to non DPR cars. I also bought lighting kits for the slot.it range of cars I have. However...I've never been taught how to solder, watching you tube vids. But there's no guidance on how to install the SP16C lighting kits to the slot.it cars, let alone much room/hole for the LED's! 
Please help, if you've managed to add lights to slot.it cars, Fly cars, it'll be fantastic if you link a video to it or even photos.

I have installed the SP16C a few times to analogue cars and via Slot.it digital chips - the Scalextric-compatible SP15B and the Oxigen B chip. Both those have a socket to plug the lead from the light board into. There should be a sheet of instructions with the light kit to show how to wire it for various power sources (analogue, SSD and oXigen) and also where to solder the leads for the LEDs.

The main thing I've learned (apart from using a small tip on the soldering iron and using flux paste to help pre-tin the wires and connection rings) is that the two rear red LEDs need to be connected in 'Series' - meaning that the cathode of one is connected to the anode of the other. In other words, there's only one wire going to the back if the car and one coming back. Otherwise those LEDs will draw too much power.

As for fitting the LEDs... there's usually detailing parts that replicate the headlight bulbs. It can be a fiddly job, but once you've removed those, there might be perfectly-sized holes. Or holes that can be enlarged with a 3mm drill bit in a small 'pin vice' hand drill. Of course, you can use any LED you want - larger, smaller or surface-mount. As long as you use colours from the same group:

• red / yellow / orange
  
• white / warm white / blue / green / pink
  

The SP16C is designed for white at the front and red at the back.

Thanks for your reply woodcote, I could only wish the instructions guide by slot.it did include the bodywork guide. 
Or even a good tutorial on you tube. If you got photos of this, that'll be a great help to me, but I bet lots more would be interested too.
