News Bury St Edmunds Slot Car Club
#51

Jan 25th 2020 - days of innocence and fun.

Eight drivers:

Three classes: Nascar/American Muscle, Saloons/Touring Cars and Club Sidecar combo's.

And three different winners  Checkeredflag

But wait. What's that on the horizon?

DANGER! Danger Will Robinson!

There's Covid on the starboard bow, starboard bow, starboard bow;
there's Covid on the starboard bow, starboard bow, Jim. .......  Sweating

Feb 22nd 2020 - The Final Countdown!

It's all a bit fuzzy now but yes, there were still club meetings going on. Here a couple of guys prepare to race the club Porsche's, nicely prepared by Vic'.

A closer look at the 'Club Car' line-up at the top and centre, with the 'owner driver' grid below.

Results saw relative newcomers Max and Jaeson playing strong supporting roles in both classes, while the top five showed two different winners, with first to fifth being well stirred in each group.

A second 'Club Class' comprised a full and colourful grid of Vic-prepared Nissans.

The following meeting was set for Sunday 15th March - but the Covid writing was on the wall, the club announcing the cancellation of that on .... FRIDAY 13th MARCH 2020

There have been no meetings since.

This is what I've been up to, creating some of my own cars with Pioneer Legends Kits in my restaurants colours.

Historic racers from the same era - but decades apart in scale manufacture. Thanks to club member Vic' for this bit of new/old nostalgia.

My 1/32 racing began at home with the white with baby blue interior Mercedes and it's rival at the time, a BRG with tan interior Austin Healey. The miles that were put on those cars!

Here the Merc is nicely matched with a Ninco XK120 - and the same manufacturer has filled a void on my shelf with their version of the BRG Healey, which has test miles only on the clock.  Cool

It's a bit of a shelf queen/nostalgia prompt, which is too nice to race - but does see the occasional Sunday drive, as befits the classic 1:1's age - and mine.  Bigsmile

Bit of a gap in posting while my PC has been at the iT Doctors. It's back home but still convalescing.

However, I couldn't leave it any longer to post these wonderful pic's of Vic's, showing his 'Batmobiles' at the Nurburgring.

The leading green Beemer is trying hard -

- but not as hard as the black car chasing it down!
