So what happened?

Bill got through the start 0.001 seconds ahead and had a nose in front...

The two cars ran side-by-side down the entire length of the strip...

And this was the result...

You really can't get any closer than that!

Congratulations to Bill on a second Nostalgia T-Jet win in the Winter Series. I suspect Iain will be all out for revenge in the season finale next month!

T-Jet stats and ladder will follow after lunch.
Wow, what a race!

Congratulations Iain on taking TQ and a great run.  Can hardly believe how close it was.  I fully expected you to take this one.

Looking forward to our next run.  Hoping it will be just as exciting.

Yes, ridiculously close! And great to catch on video. I had no idea who'd won it - only that the Torino did seem to be out of the blocks a fraction better. Iain's TQ curse returns.

We had a very close finish in round one of the match racing too...

Not this one. Alan's white Corvette got a horrible start and was left with too much ground to make up. Bill's red 'Vette won by 0.045 - their ETs 0.458 and 0.494 - but Alan was extremely rapid through the line at 12.238 mph.

This was the close one. And Iain was on the receiving end of a 0.006 second defeat. Clive's Henry J also got a 0.005 holeshot - his ET 0.466 and the Ford's 0.467.

Rebecca crushed Andy by 0.128 seconds in the third race, her candy red Mercury Coupe clocking 0.476 to Andy's Escort's 0.599. Tyre rub on the Ford...

I'll squeeze in round 2 later.

Before that, it's an opportunity for Noah and Dylan to show off the two Aurora dragsters. Aurora produced four dragsters between 1973 and 1976, originally on the non-magnatraction AFX Speciality (4-gear) chassis and then on the AFX magnatraction Speciality version. The difference is the motor magnets were dropped nearer the track rails for a little more downforce... The "Dodge Fever" and "Aztec" were closed-cockpit dragsters, both in white with an airbrushed yellow nose and a sticker sheet.

The two cars on the track are the non-magnatraction versions of the open-cockpit "Furious Fueler" (white and yellow) and the "Dyno-Mite" (light blue and white), neither with the stickers attached. These are a great piece of HO drag racing history. The motors are going to need a lot of work to get them down the strip - but that's my plan for next month.

A big thanks to Team Chesterfield for sending them down to the strip Thumbup

Street Stock Qualifying Results...

Congrats to Jane for another TQ - just holding off Clive by 0.002 of a second.

It is pretty close in that top eleven! I reckon that's by far the best Street Stock qualifying we've had - 0.676 only gets Jeremy eleventh... I predict some very tight races this evening.

Back about 8pm with Round 1 and then we'll keep going until the final is done and dusted. Might be a late one...

Micro Scalextric Street Stock Eliminators - Round One

We are well used to the twenty car ladder now. First up are the top and bottom qualifiers...

Doug saved his best time for when it didn't matter. His 0.761 narrowed the win margin to only 0.116 seconds. Jane's ET 0.644.

This was the first round race everyone was waiting for - Rebecca and Jeremy had set identical qualifying times. Despite a strong finish from the Veyron, Rebecca won by 0.014 - her ET 0.739 to Jeremy's 0.742.

Third qualifier Bill comfortably beat Al by 0.104 seconds - ETs 0.670 to 0.774.

Next was Audi TT vs Audi TT - Sue vs Pete. It was much closer than expected, but it went with qualifying form - Sue winning by 0.010 seconds, 0.712 to 0718.

Jerome was eyeing up a change of car this month, but his Veyron is on top form. He beat David's DBR9 by 0.070 - 0.685 to 0.758.

The last race in the top half of the ladder saw Alan clock 0.667 and beat Noah by 0.080. Noah's time was 0.744.

Second qualifier Clive began the second half of the ladder with a comfortable 0.117 second win over Dylan. The Audi's ET was 0.650, the Ford's 0.764.

Jeff only qualified ninth, but ended Dave's challenge with a 0.059 second win - ETs 0.671 to 0.726.

Hank qualified fifth and should have had a comfortable run against Laura... it didn't turn out that way. Side-by-side down the strip, the result was a 0.001 second win for Hank - 0.713 to 0.714 with equal reaction times and speeds through the finish line. Unlucky Laura!

The final first round race saw Iain dispatch Andy's Alfa by 0.050 seconds - the ETs 0.704 to 0.744.
