Hi everyone.

Just a few lines to introduce myself to this new (to me) Forum.

I've been racing slot cars almost continuously for 62 years.  The only gap was when I was busy helping to build the Connew F.1 car in 1971-72.

Most of my racing was done on my own, having developed a method of running slot races with just myself.

Having returned from a period living in Malta, I joined the Southend Slot Car Club, where I've been racing for six years now.

Having a basic knowledge of website writing, I gained the job of producing the club website, which you can check out here: http://www.southendslotclub.co.uk/

Welcome aboard. Wavegreen

I can never look at a website without checking out the source code, which I guess makes me a bit sad.

But if the author tag is correct, then can I just say I used to really enjoy reading about your recreations of races and tracks.

If not, sorry just ignore me.

Yes, Jason, I think you have the right person.  It certainly sounds like you are describing my peculiar branch of our hobby.

Sadly, I have finally ceased making and racing my own cars.  Age has caught up with me and having made racing series from the resumption of racing after WW2 right through to 1999 with very few missed years - I couldn't face the thought of building another set of cars because there really was only 1952-53 left and they didn't really appeal.

But it's my age that has really been the deciding factor.

As far as photos of cars and circuits go, I don't quite understand how to post them but a look at my website will show you the sort of thing I've been doing for 62 years.

Yes, that's the one, great stuff.  Thumbup   I like the warning....

Nice to see your site again.

Adding photos is simple enough, if you want to. Here's a post explaining it...

I met Barry many years ago at a Wolves Early birds meeting.  What a lovely chap. Luckily when he was "downsizing " I was able to acquire several of his GP bodies. They sit safely in my round tuit stack, for a time when my chassis  building skills can do them justice.
Good to see you are OK Barry
