Classic cars
#1

A few years ago I bought some classic resin slush moulded bodies from ebay, they were all around £5- £8 each at auction. And I guess as they were not particularly popular subjects, the sales did not not last that long as the seller could not have made much out of them. So I made the most of purchasing as many as I could afford at the time and I have not seen them offered on ebay since.

The two below I found particularly interesting, I am sure the slush mouldings must have been copies of earlier resin body kits made by someone in the past, but I have never seen them since.

Anyway over Christmas I decided to build these two, as they were more or less the same colour in real life  so I used the same body paint.

Simca Gordini 8
This car raced in a few National GP Sports car races and the Millie Miglia 1947

Peugeot 302 Darl'mat
"Darl'mat" I believe produced race tuned versions of Peugeot models at the time for the Le mans race.
This was quite successful on the Le mans Race of 1937

Both look great.
I believe the Simca Gordini was originally a TRRC offering, I have one in my pile/stash/shelf/resources list and the Peugeot was originally a MMK body. I have an original of that as well.

I bought a couple of others from the same eBay seller as well which linger in containers hoping for their day in the sun.

On the real cars the wheel hub caps are the other way around on the cars with the spoked on the Simca , and had been what I intended to do, if I had not run out of steam.
The wheels are different sizes, so I can't just swop them over.

So this somewhat irks me, but I needed to get onto another project for a competition, also the windscreens are lacking some detail which also irks me, but it is my most hated aspect of car modelling as they never seem to work for me very well, they are very fiddly to cut or fit, get smeared far too easily, drop off and being transparent you can't find them on the track and need replacing. So I have to wait until I am really calm with plenty of time to finish these models off as I would like them.....after the next project perhaps
