Hello All,

Greetings from Mississippi, USA.  It has been 60+ years since I have been involved in the hobby.  I raced on commercial tracks when a teenager back in the 60's until the hobby died out in my area.  I have always been a car fanatic and currently own a full size 68 Mercury Cougar and an 87 Bill Elliot Special Thunderbird.  I was intrigued recently with some slot car posts in my car groups.  Started searching the web for what was available and got the bug.  I recently purchased a Carrera 132 digital set and am up to seven cars and various accessories in about 3 weeks time.  I settled on digital because I think it is more realistic but also because I am a caregiver for my wife and confined to home most of the time.  Digital gives me the functionality of competing when I have no one else to race against and the ability to adjust speeds for my wife and grandkids.  I would love to build my own vehicles but not sure if I will be able to devote enough time to the effort.  I have a special interest in early NASCAR, Trans AM, classics, and hot rod style vehicles.  Your site is very informative.  I am looking forward to diving in and really learning the hobby.  Ron

Slot racing is a great hobby to get back into as a family, and the youngsters do seem to enjoy it.

Hi, Ron. Your history in the hobby is shared by many here. Even though today’s RTR cars are excellent, even the best benefit from careful adjustments and tuning. So even if you don’t build from scratch, there is a lot of fun to be had at the workbench as well as the track.
