Prototypes

This menu provides 12 definable buttons to assign to a specific section type. This makes track editing simpler. Each definition contains a section type, the use of track borders and (in case of curves) the direction. The definitions are saved to the file slotman.dat along with the remaining data and are available to the editor again when SlotMan is started again. The functions are:

The menu can work in two modes:
... use
In this mode the sections can be used directly. They can be inserted or existing sections can be replaced by the given definition.
... edit
In this mode clicking a button does not insert a section of the given type. The button is selected and it´s definition may be added (see below). The currently selected button is displayed with a black border.
Sections
Here the 12 definitions are displayed. The style of the button display depends on the definitions, that means the buttons display a simplified drawing of the section they represent.
Use
This selection is available only if the menu is in Use-Mode (see above).
Update
In this mode existing sections in the layout are updated according to the definition selected. In addition the option “Update” is available (see below) with which you can setup the detailed procedure of updating sections.
Insert
In this mode additional sections are inserted into the layout.
Update
Here you can setup the detailed procedure of updating sections.
Forward
In this mode the next section in the layout is selected automatically. This enables the update of parts of the layout (e.g. 180° curve consisting of 4 sections) without having to select the next section by hand before updating.
Reverse
Same functionality but the direction is reversed.
Stay
In this mode no jump to the next or previous section is performed after updating. This is the way the original editor functionality works.
Get selected section
This functionality is only available when in Edit-mode (see above). This assigns the section currently selected in the editor to the selected button.
Section
This is the section list known from the track editor. It is used to define the section type of the currently selected button.
Direction
Sets up the direction of the current definition. Of course this only makes sense for curved sections. If this option is set to “Same”, the direction of the updated layout section remains unchanged. When inserted, the curve has the same direction as the curve before.
Borders
The use of track borders can be configured for each definition.
Always on Top
If this option is checked, the dialog always floats above the main window. Turn it off to allow the main window to overlap this dialog.
Close
Closes the prototype menu. The menu can be reopened through the use of the main menu.
