RE: Triple Crown - American Road Race Slot Car Proxy Tour -
AdeC - 13th-Apr-22
Class C:
ALS Racing – Camaro: Very loose at the rear making it struggle for grip round the bends.
Loosesalute – Ford Falcon: Another fun car to drive, not particularly fast but handles like a Ford Falcon should.
Ruscillo Racing – Camaro: Quite quick and handles well with a stock Pioneer chassis. Just a little unpredictable at the limit.
Harrisons Racers – Camaro: Noisy but performs well
Team Cube – Pontiac GTO: As it’s been said before, doesn’t handle how it looks. Big car but it is fast and well planted. Came very close to the podium spot.
Mountain View – Camaro: Possibly the smoothest and quietest car I have ever driven. Great stance and very quick. So quick, you’re surprised you’re in a corner already which sometimes catches you off guard!
Brumos RSR – Camaro: Great car and very fast. Don’t think it liked the bumps of an ageing Sport track; but a joy to drive.
Team Tatters – Mustang Notchback: A worthy winner. Beautiful car, great stance, easy to drive and very quick. Another absolute highlight. I want one.
Just as a footnote, 1st and 2nd were separated by just 5 hundredths of a second after their 20 lap stints!
Great builds all round. We are already discussing whether we should be running a tuned muscle car class at the club next year off the back of running these beaut’s.
RE: Triple Crown - American Road Race Slot Car Proxy Tour -
AdeC - 13th-Apr-22
Class D:
RNLI Team - Triumph TR8: Heavy and front wheels foul the body. Half way through its run it jettisoned a cable eyelet. The race was paused and the eyelet replaced into the guide but it feels loose so may well happen again. 10/10 for effort with the livery and I like the window mesh details.
Scuderia Turini - Dodge Charger: Runs well for what looks to be a near stock SCX Nascar.
Rokers Roar - Monte Carlo: This car has the potential to be quick, but something has happened either in setup or as the races have developed. The rear axle is quite stiff (possibly gear mesh issues?) and the rear wheel has started to foul the arch, wearing the tyre. Either the axle or the chassis has shifted. I’d personally recommend this having some work done if it’s going to see the end of the event
Harrisons Racers - Ferrari 512 BB: Gorgeous livery and quite possibly the widest rear tyres I’ve seen on a slot car! Handles well, just needs more power or longer gearing on a track like this.
Roadrunners - Corvette: The automotive personification of “junk in the trunk”. Beautifully executed and quick, just felt very arse-heavy around the twisty bits.
Bangers Racing - Porsche 911: Fantastic car. Handles really well. *Ade makes mental note to invest in an HRS chassis for a future build*
Green Star Racing - De Tomaso Pantera: Another car built and tested on this track. Smooth, fast and a crowd favourite for the win until…
Courtney Sport - Porsche 914: The SRC 914 is proxy favourite in many other events, and now I know why. And this one has been tuned to within an inch of its life. The only car to break into the 7 second territory of this whole event. Corners on rails (figuratively as well as literally) and rapid in most places. I built my Pantera to be a 914 beater. It would appear I failed. Great work. Great build. Worthy winner.

Good morning
Many thanks to AdeC and the Viking Club for some great results and a very good Race report. Well there is a lot to mull over, braid issue with the packaging, cars developing running issues, my Greenwood Corvette's "Junk in the trunk" I had to look that phrase up
However first of all we have the accumulated Class results from the 3rd stage.

Pit Lane Review
after only 3 stages, we have seen already that there are some faster cars appearing, but in general the field looks still very tight at the top.
I have taken notice of the "braid curling issue" which AdeC reported due to the cars being packed in foam pockets. This is something I had not anticipated and on reflection I probably should have fitted a foam board mounting insert with a slot cut into it, and placed into each pocket. I am consulting with the next hosts to see if a make do solution can be found, as the cars still have a very long way to travel so that a little concerning.
It is the first time we run a Proxy stage with a club based Scalextric Sport Track, rather than a home based track, so that was very welcome addition to our general plan to run cars on a varied mixture of track surfaces and hosting situations. I hope the Viking Club will be encouraged to participate again during the series of events I have in mind.
I need to take a break right now, but will come back with some more thoughts shortly.
Ok after a quick shopping trip I am back,
So there were a few issues with the cars, the Monte Carlo of Rokers Roar sounds as if it is developing an issue, I will ask our next host to check if everything is in place or not, and maybe we might have to send this one back to the Entrant for some maintenance rather than risk causing more damage on the Hillclimb ? A few others have inherent problems that I think we will have to live with, as they are more to do with the construction of the car as it was sent.
Results
Cannonball run
1st place - Gold Lamborghini Gallardo of Green Star Racing, not surprising that it should secure top spot as it had plenty of fine tuning made on this circuit I would imagine.
2nd place - Porsche 997 of Brumos RSR seemed again at home on the Club track, although possibly it's first outing on a Scalex Sport track surface.
3rd Place- Megane of Ruscillo Racing, although clocking up the fastest lap of all the Class A cars and 5th fastest car overall on the day, appeared to have developed a inconsistency issue perhaps with the braids (from AdeC's report).
Pan American
1st place- AC Cobra of Bangers Racing, a great little car to run this one and AdeC is right about the HRS2 chassis whch always seem to have run well on these events.
2nd place - Corvette of Roadrunners, what can I say, obviously the host's were mesmerised into running this great little car into second position.
3rd place- Red Corvette of ALS Racing, I won't make any comments about the size of it this time

but it is going to be a constant battle between these two Corvettes
Classic Trans Am & NASCARS
1st Place - Mustang Notchback of Team Tatters made it into first place at last, so perhaps we will have a battle between this car and the Camaro ?
2nd Place - Camaro of Brumos RSR not quite able to make it 3 wins in a row, but I am sure we will see more.
3rd place - Camaro of Mountain View Racing Team, who have struggled abit this year so far having taken most of the prizes in last years Le Mans event.
Modern Trans Am & NASCARS
1st place -Porsche 914/6 at last found itself enough stability to get on the top of the rostrum, certainly looking like the fastest car of all in this competition to date.
2nd place - De Tomaso of Green Star Racing, having lost out to my Greenwood Corvette on the previous stage, seems to have come alive again on this one. Obviously the feminine charms of it's "Rear End" of the Greenwood was not enough to seduce the hosts into giving it a little more throttle to get it into the top 3
3rd place - Porsche 911s of Bangers Racing, definately one that will be pushing all the way to the end.
Team Points
Bangers racing on top at the moment but all of the first 3 contenders are looking very strong at the moment
Green Star Racing and Roadrunners are keeping in step, and at this early stage anything can happen.
General comment
Still very competitive at the top, and we are only 3 stages into this 10 stage competition.
How will they get on with the Devils Dyke Hillclimb, almost certainly there will be some upsets there.......
I am also posting results on the Fastest Lap times for each Stage of the event, this is of course across all the 4 classes, and I will look at doing something to recognise this achievement overall at the end of the series.
So off we go to Brighton where our host will test all the cars on his notorious Hillclimb track, I for one are keeping all my fingers crossed that my cars most importantly make it to the top unscathed , coming in the running will be a bonus

Good morning, has been really fascinating reading AdeC's posts and further comments...brought to life as I was the "other" driver and experienced first hand all the cars with him. I could honestly participate in a proxy every week, was fascinating, thoroughly enjoyed and I will leave AdeC to formerly answer the question on Viking Club's future participation (positively!!) Cheers Darren

Many thanks for your support and keen driving skills which gave us the quality Proxy event we expire to
Not sure about the "proxy every week" though, the other hosts will never forgive me .......

The Devil's Dyke Hillclimb will be built tomorrow (Saturday) lunchtime and all the cars will have a gentle shakedown session during the afternoon. There are a few changes to the previous layout, which I'll introduce to you once the track is built.
I plan to livestream all four classes on Sunday morning - fingers-crossed with live timing and a full leaderboard on the screen, together with two video feeds. That's using the OBS software that Jason explains on
this thread.
There are two streams scheduled on YouTube - Session 1 (classes A & B) is from 8am and Session 2 (classes C & D) from 9.45am...
These should also be available to watch immediately after the event.
