It's surprising what cars do actually exist...not so fictional

I guess this is the modern “Thundersaloon” type racing ?

Maybe not so modern as it was a series from the 60s and 70s. I think the last pic is a hill climb special but the older pics are period pics.

I'd say the orange one is a Stiletto Imp.

There's a proxy idea, maximum width 62mm, the more modified the better

yes I quite like that as a Proxy ? Also thought about doing a Hillclimb Proxy, but then I think we might struggle to find enough willing hosts.

We can always tilt the Rally stages at an angle, actually we originally did that with Little Druidale mainly to make it easier to see the other end as the board was laid out over the main 3 lane track, this was before we had a huge clearout and made room for the Rally track.

...the inclined track did feel different going up and going down and you had to be careful in bends.

...just an idea of course  Thumbup

...sorry for sending the thread off in a different direction

That one is still for sale, but a modern “fictional” model perhaps ? Even the version with wide wheel arches is a bit of a liberty and was not a copy of an actual historical racing car at the time I think, but does not look too much out of context, apart from the high profile Thunderslot tyres which on the side view….are a bit too much.

I like the idea of wider wheels, the authentic ones are only 5mm wide, so 8mm sounds tempting

The car was built 7-8 years ago, for the Targa Florio proxy.  I considered mailing it for this proxy early on and in order to meet the 1.5mm ground clearance rule, Thunderslot tires were used on the rear as the car was originally built with a lower clearance.

Yes I did initially set the clearance rule at 1.5mm for all cars, and then changed it to 1.0mm for under 2 litre cars. However your Porsche 911 is a really great alternative.
But seeing your Hillman Imp, has given me the idea to try the 14” wider wheels to see if they will work on my version of the car.

On my long wish list was this "Frazer Imp" which is a copy of what was a very well known Touring cars Team many years ago when I was a regular Brands Hatch racing spectator. I don't think there was anyone in the ground (abeit quite small in those days) who did not secretly want this car to out perform the more numerous Mini Coopers

The question is can I get it roadworthy in time for our proxy, and if so should I, or could I enter it ......probably needs a sponsor  Idea

Mind you I have a Volvo 850 Estate in the paint shop at the moment as well  Rofl

Goes much better with 7mm tyres on, don’t think I will run it this years Proxy as I already have the Galaxie pencilled in for this event……but maybe next year
