RE: Rally Cars Slotting Proxy 2023 - Kevan - 2nd-Nov-22

Probably best to stick to a standard 'timeout' which has been 120 seconds for many years in Slot Rally for run times of 'close to 60 seconds'.

RE: Rally Cars Slotting Proxy 2023 - Graham - 3rd-Nov-22

I had to remind myself that we are running "Rally Style" format which means that points penalties would not make sense.

So I have converted the points penalties into % penalties of added time to your Stage time at the end of each Round.

And amended the Penalty rules are as below

Performance related rules infringement Penalties – Rally Style Event
Event Specific Requirements- all the listed requirement are mandatory and infringements are subject to 10% time penalty for each violation type to be added at the end of each Round by the RoadRace Administrator
Car Class Rules – Motor, wheel, tyre, chassis, track clearance, infringements subject to 10% time penalty for each violation type to be added at the end of each Round by the RoadRace Administrator.
Non Performance related infringement Penalties Cosmetic failures- lack of wheel inserts, failure to comply with cockpit requirements, lack of Rally decals etc will be subject to a 5% time penalty for each violation type to be added at the end of each Round by the RoadRace Administrator.

Brumos RSR - Brumos RSR - 5th-Nov-22

Question regarding the metal chassis class. Does this mean the Revoslot Alfa is eligible and what is the class D motor limit?

The Alfa is a 70’s car, so is not a Pre 66 Rally car, and metal chassis allowed in Event 1 only apply to Brass & Wire construction

The Alfa is a 70’s car, so is not a Pre 66 Rally car, and metal chassis allowed in Event 1 only apply to Brass & Wire construction, the motor is free choice max 25k rpm across all 4 Events. But remember the tracks used are mostly “Rally Style” so agility and stability is more important than outright speed.

I am preparing my cars for next weeks Wye Valley Autumn Stage Rally. Hopefully will be seeing a couple of Slotting Club Proxy friends there. Also a good opportunity to test out our cars for next years Rally Cars Slotting Proxy

And just a quick word about Rally guides (has been added to the header page)

This is how the blade profile should look, ideally stem with spring fitted.

The blades depth on these 3 guides were measured as 5.6mm which is absolutely perfect for this proxy, length 18-18.5mm and thickness 1.6mm  Sun

Any car fitted with the front of the blade protruding or pointy bits (like standard Scaleauto guides) will not work for some of the Rally Tracks

RE: Rally Cars Slotting Proxy 2023 - Graham - 14th-Nov-22

Wavegreen Good afternoon,

Well I had a great day out yesterday at the Wye Valley Club Autumn Rally Event, had quite a reasonable run with my cars, enjoyed the company of other fellow Slotters and there was 3 of us in person from the Proxy Club (Paul C, Chris K & myself). And 4 other Club Members entering Proxy cars (Andy P, Brumos, BARacer and Scott Sports)

So I would say we were all fairly well represented at this Rally  Thumbup

It also made me realise a couple of issues that needed attention:
 1) The Event 3 car list was not long enough to enable a few Legendary cars to run, ie the Subaru's and Earlier Mitsubishi's - so I have extended this eligibility period up until 1996. The Event 4 WRC car period starting therefore from 1997

2) Penalties - my 10% for non compliant cars based on timings were going to be extremely disabling for the entrants, in relation to just how much the performance advantage was going to really effect the cars overall advantage. So having explored the effect on a Rally run based on the results on a live Slot Rally, I decided to revise this so that such cars remain in contention but just enough of a penalty in order to hurt their placings at the end of the series by a few places rather than being too severe.
So it is now a 2% time penalty for a major performance related advantage infringement, and a 1% time penalty for non performance related infringement. Both will only applied at the end of the series and not at each Round.

3) DNF penalty- as this is going to be accumulated time proxy, if cars cannot run due to some physical issue on any particular Stage (guide etc), or if the car has a mechanical issue and cannot be repaired in time to run the stage, there needs to be a time penalty added. The hosts only need to record a "DNF" to the results records for their stage, so it will be up to the Road Race Administrator (me) to actually apply the time penalty, when or if it occurs.

4) Finally I been encouraged to reduce the minimum rear wheel diameter for Event 1 cars to 19mm in line with the other Events, as there maybe some early sixty's cars which may struggle to meet this.

Theses changes have been edited onto the Rules Sheet on the Header page

RE: Rally Cars Slotting Proxy 2023 - Kevan - 14th-Nov-22

To be honest I hadn't studied the car spec specifics but min dia of 19mm affects Mini's and other small cars of the period 'struggle' isn't the word I'd have used.
