RE: HO stuff - KensRedZed - 29th-Jan-21

I'm trying to understand the rules. No glue, or modifications allowed to the chassis.

Velco to hold the body in place? That pretty much opens the flood gates to almost anything. There are a ton of bodies out there for everything besides Scalex micros.

I don't use Velco for 1/32 cars. It's a new experience for me.

Thanks, Top Down.   Drinkingcheers

More dumb questions please?

The stock T-jet car comes with .378" OD tires. The class allows .490" OD tires. Are we allowed to install a spacer between the body and chassis to lift the body so the taller tires can fit? Will this make the magnet effect useless? Is everyone esle using the max .490" diameter?

I emailed FrankTheRacer to start a dialogue. What's everyone using for a Super Tire compound? Soft, medium, or firm? Soft makes more sense to me, but for drag-racing only.

The majority of my fleet will get stock diameter tires to run properly on my AFX road track. But the few dedicated drag-racers won't need to corner well.

I need a few details sorted before placing an order for a bazillion tires from Frank.

Thank you very kindly in advance.

No, not many of the T-Jets are near 0.490". The small magnet does help with stability off the line. Too high at the back and you get more front lift and less downforce. The Super Tires Tuff-1 0.400" size seems a good tyre on stock hubs.

And yes, you can add a spacer on the rear screw post to raise the body for wheel/tyre clearance.

Do drop me a PM and I'll get you some Micro cars in the mail Thumbup

Ken, you might be in danger of over-thinking this - or perhaps you're just highlighting my lack of thought and planning  Bigsmile

TD. I had a good laugh on that one.  Thumbup

If I'm going to send factory plastic stock chassis cars all the way from Canada. They had better run right the moment they hit the track.

Nothing runs perfectly smooth out of the box. I won't have an opportunity to do any tuning. I'm hoping they run well enough before I send them, that I can leave them there for several races before requiring any attention.

When it comes to racing. Do your best, and never leave anything on the table.

I still look forward to coming in last, and having a blast!  Bigsmile

I'll race you for last place then Ken!  Bigsmile Checkeredflag  Wavegreen

Top Down, I'll drink to that!  Drinkingcheers

You're certainly in the right place for HO.

RRR do some glorious stuff. They're HO wizards, that's for sure.   Thumbup

Rather introverted though. Won't post outside the U.S.A.

RE: HO stuff - Top Down - 30th-Jan-21

P.S. Good job too! I already have - and spend - way too much on slot stuff.

RE: HO stuff - KensRedZed - 30th-Jan-21

Top Down. I have bad news. I will likely be sending drag cars to Andy at some point. I wonder if an extra RRR body fits in the same box?  Cool

Where there's a will. There's a way. The only concern is the cost of shipping insurance. Or risk no insurance? I have yet to cross that bridge.

It would have cost a mere $8 to mail a chassis to the UK. It jumped to $40 the moment I put $100 replacement insurance on it. Ouch.  Tappingfoot

And another thing.. RRR charges $8 to ship within the USA, and $40 to ship to Canada. That's more than the price of 2-bodies to get them to Canada! It adds to the price of the bodies in a big way.
