Or not...

Blimey - apologies again - it has been one of those weeks. Everything was planned nicely to have lots of spare time for racing the drag cars. Alas, the best-laid plans...

After a supermarket delivery between 7 & 8am (no-one else seems to grab that slot...), the weekend is looking promising.

Well it is winter so we have to wait until the organizers declare the track ice free and safe for racing[Image: cool.gif][Image: sun.gif]

Hey ho, back to eBay for another evening's online entertainment.

I hope you are well insured Woodgate.... there's an expensive claim for delay coming your way!

RE: HO Drag Proxy 17-18 November RACE REPORT - woodcote - 21st-Nov-20

Let's introduce all the cars for the main three classes!

Andy Phillips' Super Stock Mini has had a fabulous makeover, while Bill has added a Super Stock to his Street Stock car from the Summer Series...

[attachment=10319] [attachment=10320]

Jeremy and Jane have two cars each this time. Excellent soldering on the Super Stock 6.0 cars Thumbup

[attachment=10321] [attachment=10322]

Iain's trio are stunning - lovely work on the Nissan S/S 6.0, plus we have Jerome back with his Street Stock Veyron and (shared) Funny Car...

[attachment=10323] [attachment=10324]

The Burley Audi TTs return from Worthing in the capable hands of Pete and Sue - and Jeff has sent a Street Stock Audi R8 all the way from Texas!

[attachment=10325] [attachment=10326]

Next up, we have two of the big guns from the summer - Clive is back and Rebecca is ready for the winter...

[attachment=10327] [attachment=10328]

Laura's DBR9 was first off the transporter from the West Country, closely followed by Alan's contenders...

More cars from across the pond are Al's and Dave's...

[attachment=10333] [attachment=10334]

[attachment=10335] [attachment=10336]

Noah and Dylan are back with their Ford Focus WRCs  - and a couple of neat 2019 Micro Scalextric cars to match race...

[attachment=10337] [attachment=10338]

There are also six NHRA Top Fuelers and a couple of Aurora Dragsters which we'll see match-racing.

There are some good looking cars there. Welcome to our drag racing buddies from across the pond Wavegreen.
Let’s go racing and good luck everyone. Wrench

RE: HO Drag Proxy 17-18 November RACE REPORT - woodcote - 21st-Nov-20

Rebecca has now judged the first 'Best in Show' contest of the winter. The entries were whittled down to Iain's Scarelextric Special and Andy's Mighty Mini, with the Street Stock car getting the nod...

Some wonderful Halloween / Día de Muertos work there - Rose definitely appreciated the black cat. I was tickled by misreading the "Eek!" as a well-used phrase in Father Ted. Hopefully that won't be a word crossing Iain's lips during the Street Stock eliminators.

It seemed right to get the first racing of the Winter Series done tonight... So the NHRA Top Fuelers had their first rounds - matched up as per the Top Fuel race results from the Summer Series Finale.

Youngsters Noah and Dylan resumed their long-running duel. Both cars were tight on warm-up and - despite some work on both - continued to be less-than-free-running on their first pass. It may have been a slow race, but it was pretty exciting! Noah in the Optima machine managed to hold off Dylan's Alanabi dragster to win by 0.105 of a second - another few feet and Dylan probably would have caught up. Some more tweaking will be necessary before the second round in the morning.

Alan will face Rebecca in a best-of-three match. Their first race was oh so close - neck & neck in the early stages, but Rebecca's Geico dragster just eked out a 0.015 second gap at the line! Rebecca's ET was 0.800 to Alan's 0.816 - and 7.812mph to 6.649.

September's finalists met in the big grudge match, made all the more 'grudgy' after Clive defeated Andy in Texas at an NTRA Super-Comp 4-Gear race. In the first round, Andy had his revenge, with the FRAM dragster looking super-smooth and beating Clive's Matco Tools machine to line by a big 0.146 of a second. ETs were 0.735 t0 0.886 and mphs 7.812 to 6.250.

There's all to play for in the second rounds tomorrow morning and a decider - if necessary - in the evening.

Meanwhile, the rest of the cars are awaiting their qualifying runs...

NHRA 4-Gear Funny Car, Pro Mod & Pro Stock

First up this morning is NHRA 4-Gear qualifying and eliminators - a new class for the Winter Series.

As always, each car made three passes against another car in the same class. All cars ran in both lanes. Elapsed Times (ET) are recorded...

[attachment=10347]

Congratulations to Pete and Jerome - top qualifiers in the JR Todd Funny Car...

[attachment=10348]

The DHL car also set a fastest speed through the finish line - 5.524 mph. Everything is a little slower than the summer - we have a cold track, lower air temperature. We'll wait and see how things warm up during the day.

The NHRA 4-Gear Eliminators will follow-on straight away.
